Hi, I have two cats, both adorable but one of them has been vomiting lately about two or three hours after eating? He gets the best of foods and I changed to boiled chicken yet still the problem persists? He seems fine apart from this, he still plays with his brother, he still bounces around and owns the house, he doesn't seem I'll at all and yet he vomits after eating, don't get me wrong, I love him and I've been awake since three oclk this morning after finding this site and worrying myself to death over some of the things ive read on what it could be? You may be reading this thinking why haven't I taken him the vet, well to be blunt I never dreamt it could be so serious, he seems so happy I just thought he'll be ok must just have a bug, at 9oclk I will be calling vets to make appointment and then will have to sell my tv to pay for treatment but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make, im just hoping one of you can give advice other than he might die if I don't take him immediately? In a couple of days I can get the money possibly without selling anything but as I said, he will come first, bare in mind he's so happy and does not seem I'll at all, this has been the second day with this issue, my heads done in with it. Thank you.

Hi and welcome to TCS!
So sorry no one has replied yet.

How's your cat doing now? Have you seen the vet by now? What has she/he said?

And a word about feeding boiled chicken. It's not a balanced diet for cats. A little bit of boiled chicken as a treat is fine but it can't replace complete and balanced commercial cat food. It's possible to feed a balanced homemade diet but that would be more than boiled chicken and require supplementation as well.

HI!

I am glad Anne posted a response. I will go out on a limb because I had this happen to my guy. I may be kind of obsessed with this but here goes:

My guy used to vomit a lot. It started getting worse. Finally, when he vomited immediately after eating, I knew there was something associated with the food.

I noticed that after he ate, he would sit in front of me, and it just came up..

Taking notice of what type of food it happened with, I discovered that every time I gave him chicken he vomited.

I took all chicken and chicken products away from him. I started feeding a limited ingredient food, without chicken, and chicken by products.

That helped a lot. He does have IBD, but, it could be just a simple chicken allergy with your cat.

I would try this first. No chicken or byproducts or animal digest. This is hard to find. It seems most foods have chicken or the byproducts, or animal digest in them.

BTW, how old is your cat? IF you are attempting homemade food, you should add a supplement, for appropriate nutrition.

I am buying Nature's Variety food. It is a good limited ingredient one with the added supplements.

Good Luck...

My cat has experienced this as well and it never occurred to me to connect it to chicken, which she eats quite a bit. @Artiemom  - do you know if a reaction to chicken is also likely to result in a reaction to turkey? (We feed foods with both.)

@nsc1989, I am not sure if a chicken allergy is associated with anything which has wings (birds).. I keep away from all winged animals...

I know a funny way of saying birds, but it somehow is what I associate in my mind.

If it was a novel protein like quail, perhaps that would be different, but I am not willing to test that.......

Some people do say that turkey is easier and does not have as many allergens as chicken. Bottom line is:  Who knows???
