We got Lily has a present for my six-year-old daughter in Germany three years ago. Because of a horrible reaction to her vaccines she needed to be admitted to the states… It resulted in a large, neceotic abscess that spread over her whole left flank and required two surgeries and months of healing and debridings before she could be shipped to us in Texas. During all of this, she news never spayed. We had an appointment set up, but she managed to bolt out of the house. We live in a heavily-wooded area with TONS of stray cats, and I trecked through those woods every day, but she would bolt on seeing me. She was clearly having more fun out there. I finally caught her after 3 week on May 29th with a HAVAHEART trap. My daughter was so relieved--this is her baby.

Anyway, Lili was gone the last three weeks of May. When caught, she was just emaciated. She's a solid-white, petite Maine Coon/Angora mix with TONS of fur, but I could see her ribs and spine just looking at her! This is a cat that used to seem to be in constant heat--spraying, hiding by doors to bolt out, "presenting" by using her hind legs to put her rear in the air with tail to the side when my kids tried to pet her, and worst of all....the never ending LOUD caterwauling!!!

She's gained her weight back and then some, it seems. During the past 10 days, she has put on 0.6 lbs and is now 7.8 lbs. where she once seemed in constant heat, that all seems to have stopped. She's become unusually (almost annoyingly) affectionate. Shortly after she came home, her nipples were most definitely pink, but they've seemed to lighten up, almost to their original color sometimes. I can feel them through the fur. I don't recall if I could before. She is small and has never had kittens. I haven't noticed a huge change in size at all. I keep checking nipples and weight and belly. My gut says "probably not," but her behavior has me confused for sure!

I must have spotted her 20 times during her vacation, but she always ran from me. She was always with other cats. At one time, she was surrounded by three tom cats. When she was caught, she had bite marks or some kind of abrasion on the scruff of her neck and ear.

She could be as few as 5-odd weeks. We actually would like kittens, and have 5 people already asking for one of she has them. What do you think?!

Here's a pic of her when caught (before a bath)

Today:

Tried to get a nipple picture, but she doesn't like her stomach touched--there are little red crusty looking dots around them.

And here she is "standing." The fur is deceiving.

Daughter is constantly wanting to know if I think she's pregnant. What do you guys think?

It's hard to say from the pictures, but any unspayed female who has been out on her own around tom cats is sure to be pregnant.

The best way to know would be an ultrasound at the vet's office. Otherwise, you can wait to see if her belly swells more. Cats begin to show around the 5th week. I think it will become more evident very soon!

In the meantime, feed her plenty of kitten chow and wet food in case she is pregnant.

Just a few months ago I was in the same position. Trying to decide whether my baby was pregnant or not. Now I am just waiting for her to pop. It sounds a lot like your cat is pregnant. My girl started being very affectionate quote early on and as you said to a point where it is nearly annoying. The same thing happened with her nipples, so I am highly confident that your cat is going to be mummy! You will definitely notice if the stomach keeps growing. I am at the stage where I can feel the kittens kicking and turning inside the belly. It's truly an amazing thing and an amazing experience. Best of luck!

I would normally say that any unspayed cat who's been around tomcats is pregnant for sure. . .but if she's had health problems she may not be able to conceive. Or she might have gotten pregnant right away but miscarried after not getting enough to eat. I would think you'd see more nipple enlargement at this stage if she were pregnant. But some girls don't show until later on, so there's still a possibility.

Keep feeding her kitten food and lots of wet food until you're sure.

Has she been to the vet after you got her back?  Diseases can be spread from cat to cat during the mating process and definitely though the bite marks on her neck.

You should also ask the vet if she'll be able to deliver kittens.  There is a thread on here where a previous injury blocked the birth canal or there wasn't enough room for the kittens to pass by.  The cat wound up with a c-section after trying unsuccessfully to deliver.  Not all the kittens survived.
