So i have this cat that just gave birth to 6 kittens 4 days ago, and when she gave birth an hour after she started eating her kittens! She tried to eat all of them but i saved one. Ive decided to care for him myself. Things have been going good until I noticed he was cold so I introduced this heat pad. Now he's gone from crying evey 2 or so hours for food to almost never crying for food, just when the heat goes out. what do i do. He seems super tired all day now. Have i done something wrong. Please help!

I urge you to look under the forums on the bar above and find pregnant cats and kitten care and see all that you can be doing on past threads. For now, keeping the kitten warm is critical, as is feeding every two hours around the clock and wiping the rear end with a warm wet wash cloth to help them poo and pee, they can't do it on their own.You have to get a kitten replacement milk, or goats milk as they can't digest cow's milk. If he's eating well and going o the bathroom ok, he may be content, or he may be getting weaker. I hope someone comes along that is much more qualified than me, I'll pray for you both, all the luck!

Prayers for wisdom and guidance coming out your way!! Please check out www.kitten-rescue.com - it is one of the fastest ways to zero in on the solutions that you need.  My personal experience is that I am most successful using the kitten-glop recipe made with goat's milk.  Also, if the kitten seems to "crash" or go listless, I immediately give a little sugar water followed by small, very frequent doses of unflavored Pedialyte or the homemade solution (supposedly, Pedialyte's ingredients are specially buffered for superior absorption).

It is difficult to know what exactly is going on with your kitten. Keeping it warmed up & placed in your shirt next to your heart will help encourage it.

It could be that the kittens are somehow compromised and the mother cat knew it. But please don't give up - I have 2 large, happy blind cats in my yard who are now 5 years old, whom were rescued from mothers determined to kill them. I have lost others but at least they all left this world knowing what love and affection felt like, they knew the pleasure and comfort of kind touch and soft words.

Please keep us updated! Susan
