When I joined this forum Neely was our solo cat.  She was an owner surrender from the shelter.  She had a very bad URI but I nursed her back to health and gave her my full attention.  With time her coat became magnificent and she ruled the roost.  She was a true diva, the queen of her domain and we thought she would live forever.  Neely was part of our family for 10 years and we were shocked when we learned she had cancer of the mandible.  She went downhill very, very fast.  I was numb at first and in a state of disbelief.  My only consolation is that we did not let her suffer and she would join our other cats and german shepherd/collie at the bridge.  There are times I still expect to see her in her favorite spots.

The sweet 'soul' that is Neely IS at those favorite spots, she will never truly be gone because of the bond that holds her firmly to your heart. She will live forever because of the love that binds her to you, and the precious memories you will always have to comfort you in the times to come. For ten years you gave her what she wanted the most in this life, love and a family to call her own. She is at peace knowing she is loved and will never be forgotten, she would never want you to be so sad when remembering her.  She would want you to be happy and full of life again, just as you would want for her if you had left first. My heart goes out to you and your family, it takes so long to heal that hole in your heart, just as it hurts so much to have that empty space in your life. She is beyond suffering now, she is queen once again of her new home at the Rainbow Bridge, having her joyful reunion with those who have gone before her, and meeting those she had never met.  They will come to you once again some day in the future, but for now send their love on the sunbeams and their purrs (and barks) on the gentle summer breeze. Please know you are not alone in your grief, we all know the pain of losing someone so dear to our hearts and will do what we can to comfort and help. Thank you for letting us know of this beautiful girl, she will now be in the hearts and prayers of many as she so deserves. Take care......RIP beautiful Neely, you gained your angel wings but left behind a family that misses you so very much. Sweet girl, comfort those that love you so much by sending your love in their dreams, you will be held in loving hearts forevermore!

I'm very sorry for your loss of Neely.  Bless you for adopting her from the shelter.  Please also take consolation that you and your family gave her a loving home...the kind of special life any cat would cherish.  What cat doesn't want to be adored?  She would have never had that without you all.
