I am buying the 10 pound size. I leave it in the original bag and store it inside a clean plastic pail that litter came in. I fold the bag down and clip it to keep it tightly closed. I haven't had any problems with it going bad. But I am wondering if there is a better way to keep it fresh. Any thoughts.

I vacuum pack small portions as soon as the bag has been opened - usually 1 lb each - because MoglI gets very little kibble. The bags go back into the original bag, which is clipped shut. The open bag goes into a Tupperware canister.

I have a number of 1-gallon and 1/2-gallon glass jars with metal lids. As soon as I open a bag of dry food I divided it up in the jars for storage. I've never had any problem with the food going bad.

What size bags do you purchase jcat jcat ? and GoldyCat GoldyCat The vet wants me to cut back Snoop to 1/2 cup a day since he has been steadily gaining weight. He is making out okay with the reduced amount, but it is going to make the 10 pound bag last longer.

What an awesome topic. Why not start this in the cat care or nutrition forum? I think so many members would benefit from the replies (and some may contribute some good ideas as well).

You can make your own bags with the vacuum sealer; mine (a Krups) takes a roll of plastic that's sealed on one side, so I can make whatever size bags I want. Usually I buy a 1.5 kg. ( 3.3 lbs.) bag of dry food and break it down and vacuum seal 3 or 4 portions, but I know people who break down much larger bags (10 kg. / 22 lbs.).

This isn't the same brand, but similar:
