One of my cats who is around 4-5 years old (when I adopted him vet said he was a year or older) has been leaving wet spots when he lays down for naps. He doesn't seem to be having any symptoms of a UTI; he pees normally when he goes to his litter box, no signs of pain and no increased trips to the box either. It's not territorial marking, it's just something that seems to be happening while he sleeps. He's eating and drinking as usual. What could be going on??

Hmm...could be some form of incontinence? Or a very mild neurologic issue (just mean maybe some slight nerve damage)? I never think it's a bad idea to have a urinalysis done when something seems "off".

Have you mentioned this to your vet? I'd be curious to know what they say.

No, I haven't taken him to his vet. It's something that I just began noticing recently and was perplexed by it. I was thinking, well, maybe he went to pee, got his fur back there a little wet, came to lay down and that's what I'm seeing. But last night noticed the spot more damp and again a while ago. *sigh* This is coming at a bad time, have had so many unexpected expenses lately. But I'll have to find a way to take him in.

I was wondering about some kind of nerve damage or trauma too but don't see how. Nothing out of the unusual (injury) has happened.
