So I have 5 kittens that are less than one month old and I just noticed that one of the kittens (his name is puff) is vomiting. He is walking and playing with his siblings but sometimes he is very calm. I have all of the kittens in a pretty big cage and we used to put the litter box in the cage but then we got is out later. so there are some left over pieces of the clumping litter in the cage. So I wonder maybe he swallowed one by mistake? Or maybe because his mother (my cat) didn't lick him so that he will burp? I don't know but I want to know is there something to worry about? By the way he doesn't vomit alot, the last time I saw vomit was like 4 or 5 days ago and today he vomited.

Please I need any advice.

P.S. the vomit is like something thick and the color is white.

I'm raising some foster kittens that are a month old too.  : )

Boy is it stressful! I'm constantly worrying about their well-being and if any behavior is a symptom of them being sick. If your kitten is using the bathroom, eating, playing, and does not have liquid droppings or respiratory issues then you know that things aren't too serious. These are all signs of a big problem, but likely you're little guy is just having a small problem.

Are you feeding formula? Changes in diet can cause stomach upsets, as can certain ingredients in the KMR or fed to the mother cat.

If they are a month old they can be dewormed. This may help settle his stomach.

Does he appear bloated or have trouble walking around? Is his stomach hard and full to the touch? If this is the case, make sure to burp him when he eats, gently massage his belly, and even try feeding him a little bit of vegetable oil to help him pass any hard droppings or litter in his stomach.

Make sure he is being stimulated enough to use the bathroom. Some kittens are slower then others to master the litterbox and if he hasn't gone poop in more then a couple days he may need to see a vet to help him get past his constipation.

Are they being fed any wet-food? Try offering some kitten canned food soaked in milk, some meat in the diet might help his digestive system out as four weeks old is the time they begin to eat such food.

Make sure all the kittens are comfortable, warm, and have a soft place to sleep but are also getting enough exercise to keep their bowels moving properly.

Make sure this little guy is getting enough to eat/drink and that he isn't suffering from malnutrition. If he doesn't get enough moisture then that can lead to constipation.

Make sure to weigh him and keep track of when he uses the bathroom, eats (and how much), and any changes in behavior.

I hope this helps some. Feel free to ask any other questions you may have. Best of luck with the babies!! : )

Can you clean out all litter from the cage?

What are you feeding the kittens?  Are they with mom?  It's not normal for kittens to be throwing up, so you're right to be concerned.

Thank you so much for replying and the kittens are thankfully pretty good they are all playing and nursing and they are all fine and I have cleaned all the litter from the cage[emoji]9786[/emoji]. and by the way I have not trained then yet to use the litterbox their mother is still licking them and I didn't introduce them yet to solid food cause I wanna start that at 45 days not 40 so that no problems will occur. But any way they are all fine thank god.
But I wanted to say that my momma cat suddenly vomited.... I don't know for what reason at all but then after she vomited she doesn't seem being different she was still eating drinking and playing so is there any concern for that? But right now she is fine and everything is well so far.
P.S. she vomited like yesterday

Can you explain more about your set up? Mom can come and come and go from the cage but the kittens can't?

Do you plan to spay mom when this litter is 8 weeks old?

So I have a very big cage were I put all of the little kittens in it but the cage is opened so the momma cat will be able to go in and out whenever she wants. she always goes in to nurse them and lick them. The opening of the cage is a little high up so the momma cat has to jump to get out. and since her kittens can't still jump that high they can't get out. But then sometimes they are pretty naughty and start climbing up the cage to get out lol[emoji]128514[/emoji]. But we plan to let them out when they are completely 1 month old so that they get used to their room.
And hopefully we will be able to spay the mother when her babies are old enough!![emoji]128522[/emoji]

Do you have a vet you can call and ask questions over the phone.  The first question to ask 'Is there some illness going around the cats in the area?'  If more of the kittens begin vomiting I would assume they have something contagious.  If mom catches something, it's likely all the kittens can catch it through her milk.

I don't mean to scare you, but better safe than sorry.  You don't want to wait too long with small kittens.

He could. Kittens and small children tend to taste on everything.  That is why we dont recommend clumping litter for kittens nor where human babies are around - we dont want to have clumping litter inside...

HOW serious it is depends surely on how much he ate, but we arent happy here if he ate the clumping litter.

This sounds like a good set up!

Mom can get pregnant again already so it's very important that she stay inside and totally away from intact males. Would you like help finding a low cost clinic in your area?

Thank you guys for answering and don't worry they are all fine now. but they are REALLY REALLY LOUD they seriously want to go out of the cage in ANY WAY they start to climb the cage and start SCREAMING!! The problem is that they are not trained to use the litter box yet so that is why we didn't get them out because we don't want them to pee on our carpets. So we tried putting normal sand in their cage (the type that you sometimes find them in the playgrounds of a garden) (not clumping litter) but then they tend to start licking the sand and eating it I really don't know why. And of course I can't use clumping litter. And in my country we seriously don't have ANY other type of litter other than the clumping litter[emoji]128551[/emoji]
Plus they didn't even start eating anything else until now but today we are gonna start training them to solid food today.
So can anyone PLEASE give me ANY advice on how to train the kittens to use the litter box!!

At barely 4 weeks old, the kittens may not be quite ready to use the litter box yet, however; it's time for them to be out of the cage before they get hurt.

Moving them into a bathroom with mom and their litter boxes should help. It will give them more space to move around, and it's easy to clean the floor.

Kittens really begin to use the box when they begin solids, so at the same time you can leave mushy wet food and dry kitten chow down to see if any of them are interested yet.

Hello sohaila
I have kittens with ther mom that are 7 weeks now at 4 weeks one or two of them threw up thick white vomit [emoji]128533[/emoji]Once on another kitten ,and at the same time mom threw up once. After watching them I figured mom had over eaten because she was just so hungery she over did it . Never happened again. And as for the kits it looked and smelled exactly like spit up, ( do you have kids?) . My daughters were babies that spit up regularly so I thought cat spit up humm, it didn't happen after they started food.
Have fun with starting them on food! mine liked pure beef and chicken baby food mixed with abit of warm goats milk then slowly switched out the milk and added wet kitten pate food in with it untill we got to plain kitten food . Messy but fun my six year old loved it[emoji]128514[/emoji]
