So, for the first time ever, Casper is having a bout of diarrhea.
There was a puddle of it in the litter box this morning. No blood, not any black looking stuff in it, just a yellow/brown lump of wet poo. We just noticed another much smaller amount of it in the box, several hours from the first time early this morning. We know it's him, because Cocoa, being long haired, would have had it stuck to her cataloons for sure. We also found one stick paw print of it in the hallway (I stepped in it, yech!). Again if it were Cocoa, with such long tufts on her feet, I'd think it would have been obvious.
Casper, on the other hand, was recently at the vet and after many tests we all think he probably has IDB, so very likely it is him. He had been given a steroid shot a few weeks back as he was not eating well and had lost quite a bit of weight. Since then his appetite has improved and, he's only thrown up about 3 times as opposed to every few days (or even daily at times).
I'm concerned the diarrhea is related. Since it just started, we're going to withhold food for the rest of the day to give his tummy a rest. I also picked up some plain canned pumpkin which I'll add to his dinner tonight. Might skip the canned food and make some boiled chicken for him instead. Also, called the vet and thankfully, they have regular hours tomorrow so if it continues we can have him looked at. Fresh water is always available, and he is a water drinker so that is good.
Just would like to know if I'm missing anything that should be done for him at home until tomorrow when we can assess if it's a continuing problem. Tips, hints, advice most welcome!
