I noticed on the 29th my 11 month old at Morticia was really congested & not eating or drinking. The vet gave her sub-q fluids & an antibiotic shot.

Today she is still not eating. I am taking her into the washroom & running the shower really hot so the steam will loosen up the mucus & I have her in a separate room with a humidifier running.I have tried tuna, heated up tuna, heated up canned food, sardines....I can not get her to eat anything. I've been giving her Nutri-cal & syringing her watered down canned food. She is still really congested, the only difference I have noticed is the mucus is no longer bright green, it is clear so I hope that's indicative of getting better, just not sure what to do anymore to get her to eat.

You are doing all that you can do.  Unfortunately cats won't eat what they can't smell.  Make sure you are syringing at least half the food that she normally eats while continuing to try to entice her to eat on her own.

How often are you doing the steam treatments and for how long? Perhaps try to do the steam treatments more often throughout the day if your schedule allows. More treatments may help if the congestion is starting to break up.

Sorry I have no advice about the not eating due to the URI. I have never had to deal with that personally.

One other odd thing that can help is an enclosed space: if Morticia is hiding somewhere or has, say, a favorite box in a condo, it might help to feed her there, where the smell of the food won't dissipate. This helped us when we adopted our cats--they were very shy and still hiding quite a bit when they got their post-shelter URIs, so I just fed them wherever they were. (This will sound really weird but I fed one IN the duvet cover because she'd hidden at the bottom of it and fed the other under the duvet cover, propping it up at the foot of the bed!) Their food of choice then was Friskies pate--that's what the shelter sent us home with and it's nice and smelly.

Clearer mucous is a good sign, so I hope Morticia is feeling better soon!

I'm doing the steam treatments about 3-4 times a day for 15 minutes or so.

That is really good.  The only other thing I can think of to try is putting a little bit of wet food on your finger and seeing if she will lick it off.

Poor Angel, get some nutical to help make sure she is getting some sort of nutrition. I use it for my senior cats and ferral kittens and when they have any issues while sick and not eating. Hope you baby feels better soon. [emoji]128543[/emoji]

You may have to assist feed for a bit. If you can find a calorie dense food - maybe ask your vet for a can of a/d, or you can get Iams Max Calorie Plus on Chewy, but you have to buy a 12-pack and it's kinda pricy - but good to have around - you can put some on your finger and then put it on the roof of her mouth. If she's a bit groomer, you may be able to put it on her paws too, but she may not be right now. Good thing with the calorie-dense stuff, you don't need nearly as much.

How big is your kitty?
