My cat sleeping and staying by water dish all day long

Hi we  have a cat that stays by water dish all day long, she hangs her head over dish, and sleeps there all day and night long. She has been doing this for weeks now. We took to vets because I knew this was unusual behavior, looks so lethargic, sleeping by water dish all day long, hanging her head over dish and she had  blood in her urine. She still has an appetite and eats food and snacks for now.

The vets said she was dehydrated and they had to give her fluids. The vet also ran tests said she had an infection. Could this be urinary or kidney. She has been on antibiotics for a week now but it doesn't look like she is getting any better.  We are concerned. Perhaps its something more serious. Will take her back to vets, but what else could be wrong with her?

Is she eating at all? I think a return trip to the vet ASAP is a good decision. I hope she gets better

I had a cat who hung her head over the water dish during an illness as well. I think she was nauseated and wanted to drink but couldn't because she felt too poorly.   (She ended up quite dehydrated... hepatic lipidosis was the eventual diagnosis, though that doesn't sound like what's going on with YOUR kitty.) Just my theory, though. I'd absolutely be making another trip to the vet. Whatever's going on, she's obviously not feeling well.

I had a kitten that did this. Turned out he had crystals in his urine and blood (and a UTI). It took 2 weeks of antibiotics as well as strict adherence to a prescription diet for 4 weeks before he turned the corner with the water bowl. She sounds very unwell though and I would definitely take her back to the vet.

My cat is eating foods mostly snacks but still sits and sleeps by water dish. Were taking her back to vets. How long does it take a cat to stop hanging by water dish if there on antibiotics. Just don't understand perhaps she needs more meds.
