What did you do for Valentine's Day

Yesterday, on our 46th Valentine's Day together, Ann and I attended a CFA cat show in Pasadena, Texas. We had expected to see Samwise, but he couldn't make it since his breeder unexpectedly had been called to an emergency at work. We did, however, see his step-brother, Jazz, a Turkish Van GC as Samwise soon will be, at which time he will be able to join his new family at the beach. We cannot wait. He is such a lovely cat.

Valentine's Day is reserved for love and affection -- what could be more appropriate than spending that day in the midst of loads of beautiful cats??

It is a fine day on the Gulf Coast, and we sympathize with you who reside in cooler climes. Keep your kitties warm, and give them much love.

Jim, Ann, Miss Kitty, and soon, Samwise, on a Texas beash

I had to click other. Did packing and shipping of orders and then we went out to see Lord of the Rings (at last!), and then to dinner, though not fancy. It was a place we wanted to check out, very compliant for our way of eating...Chang's Mongolian Grill. It was awesome being able to pick our meats and veggies and any oils or seasonings and then have it grilled in front of us.

Then the luxury of a specialty coffee/mocha and a piece of cake (too much sweets for this meal due to also having two pieces of candy and a fortune cookie too
)

Then off to check dh's servers at work and home to be an easy chair slug and provide a lap for Patrick to nap on

Actually, Valentine's Day was a 2 day thing for us. Friday, as has been his habit for several years, dh took presents in for every woman he works with, I helped wrap a few pieces of gourmet chocolate in pretty paper, tied with ribbon, and he gave them each a jar of wonderful creamed fruit honey from a great place here in WA state.
He has some awesome co-workers, and the opinions expressed here notwithstanding, this began because of the sadness of a co-worker during a divorce, who was sad because the day seemed to be one when no one would be thinking of her.

My surprise roses arrived on Friday, so I began enjoying those a day early

And we enjoyed hearing from my mom and step-dad, as we had sent them a collection of candy & games from the 1950's - when both were in their 20's, to enjoy and enjoy the memories it would bring up...and for them to share with my step-dad's grand-children

I see the day as a wonderful time to let folks know you love and/or appreciate them,

My boyfriend took me out to a really nice seafood restaurant. The wait was really long, so we went to a coffee shop before-hand and just sat and talked. It was very nice.

Stayed home together....cooked an extra nice meal, then snuggled up and watched a DVD. We went out to a movie and out to eat on Friday..whew! The movie theatre was DEAD and we didn't have to wait 2 hours for a table. I liked it better this way!

we stayed home , had a nice dinner and talked , then snuggled up in front of the tube

I know we shouldn't need a day like valentines day to do that sort of thing , because of how our life is its really easy to let the "Mom and Dad " part of ourselves take over and loose the Dana and Gary part of ourselves ...alot of the time we work all day on this kids issue or that by the time we send the last fax to the last agency its 2-3 AM then we are back up at 7 AM M-F , on this day it gave us the push we needed to take the time for us that we would most likely not because we would feel like we are being selfish.

We spent the day (a very long one) at a Taekwondo tournament. I did my competition thing, but spent most of the day officiating. My wife also had to officiate some, and she was one of the "main event" matches at the end of the day. The tournament ended about 8:30 pm. We grabbed some food there then went home (stopping briefly at the grocery store) and crashed. I had ordered a small decoration for the garden for her, but it hasn't come yet.

Hmm, Charlie got up early, as usual, but let me sleep until I got ready to get up. I cleaned house while he finished a special "non-diet" lunch that we both enjoyed. He then napped most of the evening, and I napped and sewed. Nothing really special, but nice too, but as a matter of fact, we never did exchange our cards, they're still in their respective hiding places ! LOL !

He got me another ring( now I have ten! LOL!) it's 3 Jelly Opals! Happy day! I love it! I got him a nice Fredrick Of Hollywood Piece(actually pieces) and wore them after we got home.......etc, etc...
