Take the poll and lets see what everyone did! I did nothing.

Well unfortunately today Lyle had to work, so I'm just sitting here at home on my comp like always. *sigh* I miss him....but I'm trying to think of this as just another day. I feel bad for him though cause all day he's gonna be reminded of what the day is. We are lucky though...we have each other. Not everyone is lucky like us. So remember the friends of yours that are single. Whether they act it or not they are alittle sad. Before Lyle, I hated Valentine's Day! I hope everyone has had a good Valentine's Day though whether you have someone or not. If you are single today, and miserable, dont feel bad. This is just another day and it does matter. Snuggle up with your kitties cause I guarentee they are more loving than 99.9% of the male population!!

I have no boyfriend, so you know what I did?
I worked at the animal shelter today! I got so many puppy kisses and kitty purrs that I think it was one of the best Valentines days ever.
And 1 cat, 1 kitten, and 2 puppies got a start on a new life today! They got a home for Valentine's day!

That was a great way to spend the day! I'm really glad some homes were found!

Aw! That's so sweet. BTW I love your cats!

I went out with my dad and my sister, Jess & I each got a rose and chocolates from him. We went to Subway for dinner and then we went and saw "Somethings Gotta Give" and went to see our new puppy(Olive? Or floss?) today, I hope everyone had a good day, mine was sensational.

me and bf slept til 4pm because we were so tired from our flights yesterday.. then he woke me up and took me to some country dive to eat which was perfect because i looked like crap and didn't want anyone to see me. He's sposed to pick me up tonite and he wants to do something romantic but we've been out of town all week and some of our friends are going to a bar to see a band play so I'm going to try to convince him to atleast stop by for an hour or so just to tell stupid vegas stories lol.. Alone time is great but I miss my friends

I'm sorry, but I find some of this thread to be condescending. People who are single do not sit at home curled up in a ball of depression because it's Valentine's Day and they are single. We are not 'acting brave' while crumbling on the inside.

Today was Saturday. I shopping with my daughter and then to lunch with my stepmother and my brother's inlaws. The kids and I are cooking spaghetti tonight and doing a typical Saturday evening. Life is good.

I have to agree, if I was single, I would be offended by being told that others are luckier than me who are paired up! No woman needs a man to make them a complete person, and no man needs a woman to make him complete either. The two can balance each other out this is true, but it is not a barometor of your success or failure for that matter if you sit at home on Valentine's Day! It's just another day for pete's sake and it is what you make it.

And being married isn't always what it is always cracked up to be. It is a 24/7 relationship that requires work, compromise, forgiveness and friendship. You both have to work at it all the time, because if you stop working at it than you both get complacent and start taking each other for granted.

So what if you stay home alone and eat a TV dinner on Valentine's Day, you don't stick your head in the oven afterward because the day isn't what you wanted.

I have to say, I think I enjoyed Valentine's Day more when I was single. No expectations, got to just enjoy the day as any other day. Granted, we may have lamented a bit more about not having a boyfriend (but we were early 20's so at that point that was first and foremost on our minds...) but we also made a point of having more fun.

As for today, we actually went shopping to narrow down the choices for spending tax refunds. Found some cool cat trees for the kitties.
But romantic, it is not. As the day went on I got a worse and worse stomach ache, so now I'm in bed hoping it isn't a real stomach flu.

I spent the evening with my 3 year old niece. Got lots of hugs and kisses and a festive game of hide n' seek. The only trouble we had was when she wanted to hide together and I could not get her to understand that there was no one to come and find us. So after setting in the closet for a little while I think she caught on, so we move to something else.

I'm single and I don't think I could have had any better time than what I had tonight.

I went with my mother to Arby's for lunch and then sat at home putting together a puzzle while watching "Little House on the Prairie" for the rest of the day. It was also raining all day. Isn't that exciting?!

Seriously, I don't ever really think that much about Valentine's Day. I did get some roses from my father (that was so sweet), but I actually enjoyed having a lazy day at home and I enjoy spending time with my mother, so it was an pretty good day for me

Believe me I have spent MANY V-days alone and really it was no big deal. I didn't sit around thinking of what I was missing. It was just another holiday (like Hannukkah, Halloween, Sweetest day, etc.) that I didn't participate in.

THIS V-day I did go out with my S/O but again, I am so used to being single that if he disappeared tommorrow, I could care less. I love him to pieces but I guess I love myself enough to realize I don't need a man to "make" me happy. I can be just as happy solo!

I am back together with a guy I met over 20 years ago and dated on and off the whole 20+ years. We broke up, got back together, broke up, got engaged, DIDN'T get married, got back together again and we will give the marriage thing another try in a couple of years when I get secure in a job after I get my degree.

I don't recall being down in the dumps on Valentines day when I was single and without a s/o. It was just a day then, sometimes observed in fun ways amongst friends, and sometimes not observed at all, and either way it didn't matter.

As for what Rob and I did with the day this year, mostly it was just Saturday. We did Saturday things. We exchanged cards, and I paid a little more attention to making nice meals than I would on a normal Saturday -- and we had a bottle of wine with dinner. And we were slightly more deliberate about saying "I love you" than we normally are (but then we're pretty deliberate about it normally, so "slightly" is about all we could manage).

But mostly, we just lived our lives.

Deb 25 and Hissy:

I believe the purpose of my thread was taken in the wrong way. I myself have been single on every Valentines day of my life except the last two years thanks to Lyle. I wasnt posting this thread to make single people feel bad or feel that they 'need' someone. I was just curious of what everyone was doing. As for saying in my post to remember the single people, alot of people that are single feel bad because this is a holiday that people consider the time people should have a partner. Addressing the ones that do, I was saying to not feel bad because this is just another day and doesnt matter. I know there are plenty self-sufficiant singles that could care less. That part of the post was for the ones who arent happy.

Hissy: What I meant about lucky, is I consider myself lucky because only alittle over 2 years ago I was single and really expecting to never find anyone. I know it's just another day for alot of singles, it's the ones that dont think that way that I was addresing that to.

So far out in left field I got lost
Ken and I stayed at home since I worked all day on people's taxes I didn't have enough energy to go out. We had a lovely salad and then I watched TV through my eyelids
while Ken watched the races.
