Hi I'm very new here and please excuse my very bad explanation :lol3:

This is my first time owning a kitten and I just got a 2 month old half Siberian/half Persian kitten. I realise that Siberian cats actually get uncomfortable with the heat.
It is summer and the temperatures are crazy hot here! Anyway, I was wondering if my little kitten would be okay with cold air conditioning? It depends the temperature varies from 15-20 C°. I'd open it at 20hr00-21hr00 until 16hr00 17hr00 and then open the windows in my room and my room goes hot instantly. I open the AC in the living room which can be quite hot sometimes the temperature is normally at 25 C° there.

The tile in my house is wood and ceramic. The wood is not actually wood it's a lot softer and tends to get extremely cold if the temperature in the room is cold.

So would it be safe to keep my kitten in this very cold temperature? Or do you think she'll catch the flu or get sick? She is a very very young kitten and she just stopped drinking her mothers milk. I'm more worried about the fact that she might lay on the very cold tile.

Thanks :)

My adult cats do quite well at 20C (about 68F) but I think 15C (about 59F) would be a little cold for them.  I think a kitten would probably have to be kept even warmer.  Why does the air conditioner need to be so cold?   If you are unable to move the temperature up a bit, I would definitely make a warm nest for your kitten.   Even a cardboard box lined with soft towels would be a help.  You can also get heated beds, although that might be a little much.

I'm not a kitten expert so hopefully someone who knows more about a kitten's ability to regulate his or body temperature will pipe in.  This is just from my own experience with my grown kitties.

I'm sorry it took so long for you to get a response.  Sometimes posts move down the queue faster than others and get lost between the cracks.  Thanks for reposting.

That's for replying :)

So do you think if I put a cardboard with fleece blankets he'll be good with th ac? Or should I just make the ac warmer?

A large box with high sides (or turned upside down and a hole cut into the side) with  a fleece blanket would be fine. Kittens should be able to escape from too cold and too hot temperatures if they want to. If you can adjust the AC to a higher temperature setting that is still comfortable for you, that would also help. Keeping the window shades down and using thermal energy savng curtains would also help cut down on the sun heating up your home and you may not need to blast the AC on at a cold temperature for too long.
