Unfortunately there is very little we can offer you aside from trying to keep her warm, comfortable, fed and hydrate.

Do you have any friends or family members that could loan you the money to take her back to the vet for tests?

Have you tried applying for Care Credit?

Here is a good article when you are running short on funds and your cat needs vet care:

I'm not sure where you are from but here we have something called vetpay. You apply for it and they give you an answer pretty quickly as to whether or not they will lend you the money. It comes with interest though.

I'm surprised a vet would let a cat go home that was clearly in pain. I  know they can't offer any major treatment without payment but I thought they take an oath or something not to allow an animal to suffer?

Most vets, especially if they have been practicing for any length of time, have been taken advantage of and had clients skip out on paying. Unless an individual has a relationship with a particular clinic, clinics are very reluctant to offer payments plans.

No one wants to see an animal sufferer, but clinics simply cannot pick up the tab for everyone that cannot afford care. This is a very sad position to be in.
Without basic blood work or other diagnostic tests, the vet doesn't know what they are treating. If the wrong treatment is administered and the animal gets sicker or dies as a result, the owner can file a claim against the clinic and/or charges against the attending vet.

I will mention that many clinics will offer a low cost or "complimentary" (as bad as that sounds) humane euthanasia for an animal that is suffering. However, they cannot force an owner to do so.

That's so sad and unfair. I'm sorry for your loss.
This thread will now be locked as per TCS policy. We do this out of respect for the cat and the owner when a cat has passed away.
You may wish to make a tribute thread for her in our Bridge forum if you feel up to it.
Take care.
