Ok, I know this is a stinky subject, but.......and no pun intended.....

My big baby Shortstack loves nothing better than for me to carry him around (constantly).  As I've said before, if I could find one to fit him I would get a baby Snuggli, cut a hole for his tail, and strap him to me.  I pick him up, his arms (front legs) go around my neck--if he can't reach he tries to climb me until that is where he is positioned, my right arm goes under his tail to support his butt, and his back legs just kinda dangle around my waist.  His belly is entirely against my chest and belly.  Basically, I carry him like a toddler (he weighs about as much as one).  He snuggles into the side of my neck.  He loves this so much that even when I'm sitting in a chair he hops in my lap and "walks" up my chest to get into that position.  He will sleep there if I am still long enough.

On to the issue-- when I pick him up and put my arm under his butt (under the tail with it draped over my arm, he hates it folded under, guess it hurts) he will leak urine on my arm--just a drop or so.  The other night I did this, and there was a little poo on my arm!

He is fine as far as urinating/pooping normally, not going any more often or straining--nothing.

I have asked the vet before about his urine leakage and they say it's common in the chubby kitties, but the anal leakage is another story.  I am just wondering if it is his anal glands instead of him leaking poo.  How would I know?  Or can I tell?  Could this be because he is a bit heavy as well?  He has "topped out" as they say at about 17 pounds now, and he is on a weight reduction plan.   I looked under his tail last night and there is no redness around his anus, no swelling, and he is very clean around that area.  I just don't want some sort of anal gland problem going on and me be too stupid to know.  I just wonder if it is the pressure of his weight the way he "sits" on my arm too, maybe I'm squeezing the poo outta him!

Oh, the things we ponder.  They are so much like children!  (BTW--he is 2 years old, neutered)

Did it seem like there was enough poop that it leaked out, or was it just a smear like he, um, "didn't wipe"? :lol3: I have the same question about the pee---is he really leaking or does he just have a few drops on his fur?

As far as the pee--it's only about a drop or so.  Not enough for me to go get something to wipe off really.  AND--I have looked BEFORE picking him up, and he is dry back there, after putting him down, he is wet around his urethra, but just like a drop.  That's why I wonder if it is the pressure of all that furry goodness being held upright like that causing a bit to come out.

The poo--haha--I kinda wondered if he "didn't wipe" (haha that was my FIRST thought!!)-- it really was just a spot about the size of a dime.  Like smear, but not smeared.

Good grief, I hope you make some sense out of that!

It doesn't seem like anything is ever "actively" coming out of him...just like an OOPS moment for us, maybe like if you laugh too hard and pee a little

He has no worms or parasites, just got vet-checked for the weight reduction plan and they checked everything.  But he had never pooed on me before the vet visit!  The vet wasn't concerned about the pee, he said it was common in overweight cats.

He is large enough he struggles to wash his lower belly...he usually props himself against something, and makes snuffle-snarfle noises straining and grunting to reach places he is trying to wash.  I've noticed the pee drop thing before where he was sitting propped up squishing himself around trying to wash too.

One of mine released her anal glands while being patted. It smells horrific. Not really like poop and the smell is really strong. Her anal glands were blocked. My vet showed me that if you pop on a glove (one of those latex one's they use for food prep) and feel around 8 and 4 on a clock, if you feel "peas" (pea sized lumps) there's a problem. If it's soft and no lumps, all normal and he probably just didn't clean properly. Keep an eye on it though even if you find no lumps. If it keeps happening he might need a checkup.

Oh my.......I really think this may have been what happened because it smelled awful!  And it was just a tiny, liquidy spot on my arm...not really even looked like poo, but was about the same color.

I'm not sure he will ever allow me to check them like that though---I think he would freak out if I put on a glove and went to probing!  I may run him up to the vet for a fast check.  Thanks so much.  You saying it smelled horrific really, REALLY makes me think that is what it was!

Yep, it's kind of like a grey/brown colour and peee-eew! And yes, liquidy, not like a thick smear (sorry, waaaay tmi right there!) They normally release them when they go to the toilet but sometimes they do get clogged. It is possible he'd only been recently though or something and just a little bit leaked. Getting it checked is probably a good idea though (lol my cat goes running if she hears the gloves out now! Poor thing! You don't have to get right in there, just kind of check the outside area :/ )

Well, I'm relieved to say so far it hasn't happened again, but what you described sounds exactly like what was on my arm. Although last night he apparently had some stuck on his booty fur and I had a kitty litter poo ball smush on my arm (my fault, I picked him up as he hopped out of his box). I feel like I have a toddler!
