Ear Infection After Change in Food

My cat, Brillo, just got diagnosed with a yeast infection in both ears.

He has never had this before, and it happened just after I had to change his food as the other one had something wrong with it. None of our cats would touch it.

The vet said a food allergy is possible. The food we switched to is Nutrish by Rachael Ray with chicken and rice.

Has anyone had an issue with this food causing ear problems?

Also, anyone know a possible allergen that would cause this?

The food has veggies in it and olive oil. I assume that it could be one of these things since he's had chicken and rice.

Yes  One of my cats developed a chicken allergy and it showed up as a yeast infection in his ears.

Our cat has had recurring yeast infection in her ears ever since we adopted her from the shelter last year. We did food allergy tests, but the only thing she had a mild reaction to was fish. Not all fish, but we didn't want to complicate her already complicated rotation of food by figuring out which type of fish, so we just removed all fish from her diet.

I wish it was a simple case of food allergies, but in our case, the yeast infection wasn't caused by food. It's something she picked up at the overcrowded shelter and something she's prone to. Just like some cats are prone to URI or eye infection, and some humans are more prone to cramps, skin rashes or cold than others. 

We just started another round of tresaderm 2x a day after thorough cleaning. Exactly three months ago was when we started the previous round of treatment. We really hope that she can beat this yeast infection once and for all, but we hear it's common to go through 3-4 rounds of treatment before getting a hold of it.

Fingers crossed for all of you and your cats suffering from it. 

I really think it is the food in our case as it happened right after it was changed and my cats never have ear problems.
The only cat I had (years ago, now deceased) who had ear issues had them because he had feline leukemia.

The cat with the ear problem now does, however, have feline herpes.
