I picked up two foster kittens from the shelter today.  They are supposed to be 5-6 weeks old but are very tiny.  Their little cheeks have no meat on them at all. Their eyes look too big for their heads.   No one said anything but they appear to be starved.  I can't think of why else they would look this way.  So I am feeding them my normal canned kitten food for their main meals and leaving EVO out for free choice.  Should I be doing anything else to help them? They look awful!

You can add a little KMR to their canned food for extra nutrition. But mostly just feed them normally---they catch up quickly at this age.

Yep I mixed KMR into my kittens wet food until they were about 12 weeks.

The little girl weighs 1.2 pounds and is quite active.  Little boy only 12 oz and sits in the carrier most of the time.  Looks really sad.  Will get some KMR.  They both have soupy stool as well.

She's about the right weight. . .a little bit under; she should be about 1.5 pounds by now. But that's not a big difference. He's very small though :/. Poor little dude. Have they been fully de-wormed and checked for coccidia?

Wormed but I don;t think they know how to check for coccida, the vet has to do that.  The kittens must have been fifthly from head to toe as they gave them baths before I picked them up and their headsçnecks are still dirty.  I am so worried about the little boy.  She is active but he just sits there.  Sorry keyboard is malfunctioning.

What is wrong with the kitten eating wet food.  I do not feed my adult cat dry food because of the carbs in it and my fosters only have dry out in case they want it.  The moisture in wet food is much more healthy for cats than dry as well.

@njenkins0407   My cats only have dry as a snack thing, and won't eat it at all usually, they eat wet food constantly and no soft poops.  I think I would go for the vet to check for parasites/infection.

I only have one cat that prefers dry, and I'm weaning him away from it and getting him to go all wet.  But one eats solely wet food and he has solid poo all the time.

@Riley1   Oh, I feel sorry for your poor little bitty guy!  Bless his little heart!  Are you going to get them into the vet?  I wish I could foster but I have the one fluffy butthole that hates everybody and everything :(   So glad folks like you are out there for these babies.
