I got a kitten Saturday and she's around 5 weeks old, my neighbours cat comes over to our house and is known to have fights with the neighbouring cats. We introduced them to each other, the stray cat (Twts) was quite calm until the kitten spat (didn't expect that as she is used to other cats) Twts jumped 2 meters away, we let them look at each other a little then let Twts into the shed where she spends most of her time where he had a good sniff and then put the kitten back in the shed. I went inside and left the kitten and stray alone (with a door between them) and watched from the Windows. They meowed to each other, the kitten spat again and the stray bolted, he went behind my car and we don't know where he is now.
Any tips to introduce them further?

Your kitten is actually much too young to be introduced to other cats if you're not absolutely certain of their vaccination history. Your kitten can't be vaccinated until it is 8 weeks old, and won't be protected until it has had the full series. Please keep it inside and away from other cats until then.

For the stray male, is he neutered? If not, things may not improve.

In general, cat introductions can take a long time. You may want to tad some of the articles we have here, or watch some of Jackson Galaxy's videos. It's a slow process that has to go at the pace the cats dictate.

Good luck!!

Talking Peanut is quite right.

And here's a good article to help you when it's time for introductions.  Maybe the stray would like to live with you too (neutered of course).
