So...Bubba has another trip to the vet today :(

He started vomiting on Sunday night, after he ate ( he sometimes does this if he eats too fast, so at first I thought that's what it was ). The vomiting went on from about 8pm to 3am, he would lay down for a bit, get up drink a little water and then bring it right back up. Poor little guy had nothing in his stomach, just water and foamy bile... I really think he probably threw up about 10-12 times that night.

Monday morning I was going to take him to the vet. I fed him and everything seemed ok, he was acting normal, so i decided not to take him thinking that whatever was in his system had left.

We were fine until last night ( weds ) I fed him his evening meal, he had two licks of the gravy and not 5 minutes later he started getting sick again, he went to get water and again, got sick. this time he only got sick 4 times.

I should mention that since his surgery to remove quite a few of his teeth, his eating habits have been different.

We had to mash his food and add water for about a week leading up to the surgery and then for about 10 days after. he was going through 2 pouches of food a feeding, that trickled down to one and then he started turning his nose up at the food.

So we started a different brand of wet food about 10 days ago and he seemed to like it...I would think if it were an issue with changing the food he would have been showing signs earlier.

he has never been a finicky eater, now he has morphed into being very finicky and only seems to like the kind that has "gravy"...

So this morning he ate and everything seems fine again...this time he's going to the vet

anyone else gone through this?

Hugs and Nose Boops,

Rayne

I haven't been through anything quite like this myself, but I've read similar stories.  Has Bubba been to the vet yet?  I'm curious as to what he or she said and what kind of treatment you were given.  Fingers crossed that Bubba feels better soon.

The only time my kitty was this sick he'd eaten something he shouldn't have and it had lodged in his intestines. It was on and off too. How did the vet visit go?

Vet wasn't sure why he was vomiting so much, his physical exam seemed fine ( no temp, good sounds in abdomen, breathing fine, temp good, etc ). he did lose 0.6 lbs since his last visit ( a month ago for a recheck from his mouth surgery )

She gave him some sub-q liquids and a shot of Cerenia and wanted to wait it out for a few days to see if it continued and if it did, bring him back for blood work and x-rays ( his last blood work was only a month ago ). She also gave us some Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal High Energy wet food.

She mentioned he may not feel like eating right away but today should have his appetite back, and that he would have a noticeable lump where his sub q was. She is pretty certain that its a diet issue, however there is always a possibility of an obstruction.

I believe Bubba is part pig, so yeah his appetite was back last night, lol I also believe they put some kind of "cat crack" in that food, he ate 1/2 a can last night and again this morning. ( and he still wants more...lol ). The test will be tonight really after the Cerenia wears off, if he can hold down his food. There is no lump at all where the sub-q was, I'm guessing he was pretty dehydrated.

She also mentioned "resetting" his stomach-withholding food for a day and then starting off with boiled chicken and then getting him on a healthier diet ( he is currently a "gravy junkie" and loves food that comes in pouches with lots of gravy ).

I am wondering if all this has to do with his teeth, he still has a few that need to be removed and the stuff with gravy comes with little chunks of meat, he always licks up the gravy, then returns later and eats the meat and never really finishes all of it and when he does get sick its usually food that hasn't really been chewed ( like he is swallowing it whole ).

anyone have any suggestions for a good diet for a kitty with a sensitive tummy? He seems to really like the royal canin stuff, but that's pretty expensive, and lately he seems to like a food for a couple of days then he doesn't...could it be i just need to switch him to a pate type food?

One of my cats started throwing up after every meal. She was diagnosed with IBS. The x-rays should show if your kitty has inflamed bowels or not.
