My girl has some unique markings and coloring and the texture of her fur is quite different on her sides and back vs. her belly. Clearly she's part mackerel tabby, what else do you think she is? I adopted her from a shelter so don't have any history in momma or daddy cat. Thanks!

Ow, that was an awesome sweeteness!   Luck I had just eaten breakfast, otherwise we would never know what could happen!

I Im pretty sure, she beside being tabby and longhair, is also a diluted tortie and carries white - possibly a calico.

So diluted caliby?  or simply diluted patched tabby is perhaps the most official.

The face and pose are very impressive, still I think she is "just" a very beautiful domestic longhair, DLH

Aw so beautiful <3 I hope my Luna grows like that too if she is a DMH and if not she's still my baby girl. By the way when did she show the DLH traits as a Kitten ?

StefanZ don't you think she has "some" Maine Coon features like her ear tips, very long whiskers, her face stracture and the M sign but that's less realible :p or do all DLH's have that ? I don't know cuz I didn't research them that much. But yeah you're the most knowledgeable around so I guess you're right.
Yeah, its surely possible to press her into a MCO look alike.   :)                 And if she is biggish we may even be quite certain on it.

But that M is a myth - it sits on all tabbies - and very many of MCO are tabby...  That is why they often have the M.

Please forgive my ignorance, what is MCO?  Maine Coon ?

She's a beautiful kitty, she trills like crazy which really makes her fun to be with - always talking some gibber gabber.

She was truly a gem that we adopted!

I'm so happy to have found this forum!  You all are so knowledgeable!!!!

Yeah I noticed that too that most Maine Coon's are tabby. The M part I got that from cats101 haha damn I'll be bit more alert from now on that.

Cat Princess first of welcome to the forum. And I guess MCO stands for Maine Coon bite me if I'm wrong though. Also is your Cat "dog" like as in that she follows you, welcomes you and also does she play fetch ? If she is a social cat chances might be is a Maine coon. But like with humans, cats have different personalities. So she might be a Different breed with the same traits as a Maine Coon. Also like StefanZ said is she big and a bit muscular ? And how old is she ?

Thanks for the welcome!  Yes, she is Very social, loves to be in whatever room we are in.   Runs as fast as she can to the door to greet as well.  Yes, plays fetch.   She will be 2 years old in August.  She has bigger paws.  The shelter said that she was brought into the shelter November 2015 by a woman who said she found her on the street.  She is missing 2 of those teeny tiny teeth in the front on her lower jaw and 1 of the teeny tiny teeth on the top.  Apparently this is from poor nutrition so perhaps she was outside for awhile?  Not sure.  She doesn't act like a street cat, extremely friendly and social.  I think her growth was stunted, she's on the smaller side, just under 9 lbs but paws are bigger so I think she had the potential to be a bigger cat than what she ended up being.

I'm about 60% sure that she's a Maine Coon. We just need another person to confirm it. if she IS a Maine Coon she'll grow till her 4th or 5th year to reach her full size. Female Coon's usually weight around 12-15 pounds so she may be lighter or heavier. Just depends on the individual.

So maybe a maine coon tabby mix?
Sure, but it wont help us much.  Tabby isnt a breed, but its a very common pattern.

Also, very many maine coons are tabbies.  Both the purebred and the naturals population ones...

I would guess she is one of the natural population, from which the MCO become purebred from.

Its quite common rescued street cats are very friendly to their owners.  They KNOW they were saved, and are grateful for it.  They know the alternative...

Although they are often shy to visitors...
