I adopted Rocky-feller in January. Rocky, 3-year old cat, has been leaking a pea sized poop sometimes. Pretty smelly.

Happens most when he sleeps or relaxes. (he seems to have food intolerances for poultry and sometimes anal glands get inflamed).

He does have smelly poops and excess anal gland fluid on his bum at times.

He is on royal canin venison and pea PV canned food. Seems to help some, but I think the peas give too much carbs.

Anyone ever have a cat leak a mini poop?

Hmm, I've never heard of that before. Has he recently been wormed? I know when cats leak worms it is SOO gross. I've had it happen when they needed a new dose of meds.

It could also be what he is eating. There are some special diets made to stop allergies to foods that are out there, possibly at your vets. I know our shelter has to get special foods sometimes for the animals that have sensitive stomachs.

If it seems to be an anal gland issue then you could talk to your vet about having the anal glands "milked" to clean them out or even removed if it is a chronic issue. Our dogs have had anal gland issues before and it is very uncomfortable for them.

I would consider talking to a vet just because it is such odd symptoms. I hope he feels better soon.

Best of luck to all of you!

He's been to the vet numerous times.

I am hoping to get him on a less expensive diet than the Royal Canin PV eventually.

I will probably start making his food. If he could eat beef that would help.

I am told that if he can tolerate the venison, he may do OK with beef after his colon gets calmed down.

He is on probiotics now as well.

By the way he eats two cans of food a day $2,65 per can) which is why the cost is so high.

Almost 2k a year to feed him.

You can get some really good quality scrap-food from someone who butchers their own animals. The meat deemed not good enough for people may just be tougher or too small a cut to be worth anything to them but it is just as healthy and tasty to a cat. You can get venison, lamb, goat, cow, and pork this way. You can also get pre-killed mice, rabbits and birds if you prefer the whole-food diet rout.

Currently we feed canned food and dry food just because we don't have the money for anything else, but our cats also hunt which helps their digestive system get the fiber and moisture it needs.
