It's been a long time since I last posted on the Cat Site. When I had to put my beloved 17 year old male Tiger (who was a totally tail less brown tabby striped Manx breed cat) to sleep because he couldn't metabolize his food anymore, it "really" took the wind out of my sails since he was my constant shadow in our home. But, since Tiger was a stray who showed up at my back kitchen door needing a home, I was more than happy to give him a good home. Since Tiger passed away in the Fall of 2014, on the advice of my eldest niece, my wife and I decided to get another cat.

With the above said, I found a cat online from a lady who dedicates her retired life to finding homes for homeless cats she rescues. She rescued some newborn kittens a few days after birth since the mother cat passed away from a rattlesnake bite shortly after giving birth. One of the newborn kittens was an orange tiger striped male cat. He lived with this woman for 18 months in a kitty condo with two other homeless male cats. While the other two cats were afraid of me, he wasn't. I later found out he was the alpha male among the group and he was very independent. I decided to choose him and I really don't know why I picked him, but there was just something about him which caught my eye. Maybe it was his long legs and beautiful markings on his coat. I named him, Tucker. Tucker has been with us now for 20 months.

I used to call Tucker and he would pay no attention to me and he didn't like to be petted. When my wife and I used to go out, he would never greet us at the door when we came back home. It has taken me 20 months to gain Tucker's trust and with his trust, his affection towards me and my wife although he does favor me more than my wife. Now when I call him, he comes to me just like a loyal dog. When my wife and I go out for a few hours, he greets us at the door with many leg rubs. Tucker loves all the windows in the house especially the patio door window. Below is a picture of Tucker. He was sitting on the kitchen window sill looking at the doves, cardinals and squirrels which frequent our yard at all times of the day. I softly called his name and when he looked at me, I snapped this photo of him. BTW, I know exactly when Tucker was born and it was on April 9th, 2013. Tucker is strictly an indoor (now spoiled) house cat.

Welcome back!
Tucker is beautiful.  It sounds like maybe the two of you rescued each other.  So sweet.

Tucker is one handsome cat. Good to hear he survived with mom getting killed by a snake. Human intervention made Tucker possible and he looks like he lives the good life for sure.

I am partial to the orange tabbies but he is looking like he is very happy:clap:
