William was our two year old Seal Point Siamese whom we had brought up since he was eight weeks old. When we moved from UK to Australia in 1961,of course William came too. We found ourselves in Adelaide, South Australia where there was the South Australian Cat Show being held in 1962 and William was entered under the Seal Point Class.

The Judge picked William up and commented that he was a big Pommie and too big compared with South Australian Siamese Cats. (The British were referred by Australians as being ‘ Pommies’ in the 1960s).

William did not like being judged and bit the Judge.  William failed to win any awards.

With regards,

Geoffrey

Yeah, judges dont like to be bitten by the cat. Usually it gives Immediately disqualification.  You be happy if they accept some hissing...

I remember when Brits were referred to as 'Pommies' in Australia, but not their cats.

Poor William.  Mind you, I doubt he cared that much.  He would have been quite happy to remain big and contented.
