Looks like my cat's been having trouble pooping

This just started today. My cat's been abnormally meowing a lot louder than usual so we realized that maybe she needed to go to the litter box. We let her outside and noticed that she was having a lot harder time pooping. After that, she started bleeding a little bit (not too much, just a few drops) and she pooped a few minutes later again. We let her inside shortly and helped her clean up, but then again she wanted to go outside to poop a few minutes later. I noticed as well she was panting after pooping, but it could just be the heat because it's summer. I think it's constipation, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

She's at her nest but she's panting heavily.

Can you take her to a vet? It sounds like a vet check would be a good idea. Panting is not normal for a cat.

Plan on doing it, just a bit scared rn. Her panting is scaring me, I can send a video too.

She seems super tired, not panting as much but she's breathing fast. She's not meowing as much and isn't really moving her eyes to look.

If she is still panting I would consider taking her to an emergency vet. I think you are right to be concerned. I would certainly bring her inside.

She went up to move around so I wouldn't assume she's super tired. The only event where she's panting is if she's meowing - other than that, she's fine. She's already inside so it's definitely not hot in here.

Again, this doesn't sound like normal behavior and you were obviously concerned enough to post. I would at the very least call the vet and see what they recommend.

Take her to a vet. If she has a hard time pooping some olive oil might help and cant hurt. But the pooping might be a side effect of something else so the vet is the safest bet.

Good luck

Just an update. I am planning on taking her to the vet, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it today or tomorrow. Right now she's fine, hasn't pooped ever since and doesn't look as bad as earlier. She's not panting anymore and her breathing has numbed down. The biggest thing is that she doesn't really leave her nest and she looks weak. I haven't seen her go up to eat/drink or just walk around, and when I go up to call her she either doesn't respond and continues to lay down or just lets out a weak meow.

Cats can get fatty liver disease if they do not eat for more than 24 hours and it is very serious. I really urge you to seek treatment tomorrow.

It's only been around three hours since she started acting sick. Hopefully she'll show some normal behavior within the next hours. But yeah I'll do my best.

please watch for pale gums or blueing of the mouth when panting. panting could be cardiac or other. she needs to see a vet. they have inhalers and medications to help make it easier for her to breathe. it is very uncomfortable to not breathe. we all know what it feels like if we were underwater and cant breathe. the cat will be lethargic, wont eat or drink due to conserving oxygen for vital organs and general feeling blah. also touch the cat and make sure the paws/tail/ears etc are not cold to the touch. usually if there are circulation problems then the paws will feel cooler to the touch. this needs medical attention.

the bleeding you can do a few things-add canned plain pumpkin to diet=some cats eat it some dont. if you have an easy to handle cat you can do what I call swiping a fingerful onto the roof of the mouth and let her swallow it. she will not be happy but the nice thing about plain pumpkin is it only takes about 12 hours to do its thing. it is used for both diareaha and constipation. you can use olive oil-a few drops on finger and she can lick it off or smear on front paws so she licks it or you can get hairball remedy which has petrolum jelly in it but I dont recommend this given all the time. its given when there is gagging and they cant pass the hairball. it helps the colon keep moving the stuff along. you can also try coconut oil-some kitties like this-or my fav is a bit of butter. the basic thing is something with a fatty type so it helps move the poop along the colon and not get stuck. if none of this works they have other things to send you home with but usually the butter is to me the best one then canned pumpkin. it all depends on the cat.

feeding the cat wet food will also help move things along-the thing we want is more moisture. dry food doesnt have enough moisture so now we have to add it into the diet.

Is this the same cat that had kittens? Don't you have a thread going for her already?

Personally, I would get your girl to the vet as soon as you can. I think this is more than constipation or I should say that would be my concern with a kitty who gave birth last week.
I know you've been through a lot with her and how stressful it is :hugs:

Her breathing doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. When she was panting earlier her mouth/tongue was normal and I didn't see any unusual physical differences. She's not panting anymore and I don't think she's having any breathing problems atm.

Thanks for the advice tho, I've heard a lot of suggestions about olive oil/wet food so I'll def consider using it.

Yep, I had another thread up for her in another section of the forum. She had two kittens just last week and unfortunately both of them died. Been a terrible week for her so I feel bad.

I do agree that something more serious is likely going on, especially if she recently gave birth.

I know you also said that you want to get her spayed.  She also should not go outside at all until she is fixed.  She can get pregnant at any time now, whether she is in heat or not, since cats are induced ovulators.
