We recently lost both of our cats of 16 years. We lost Morris in January to Lymphoma  and Hurley in May to CHF. They were such a large part of our lives, the hole left in our hearts and household was huge!

We thought about getting a new kitty but had many reasons not to: it was too soon, There will never be another Hurley or Morris: can't honor them by replacing them so soon.(weird, I know)

But we decided we have a lot of love and a good home to offer a new kitty. Why shouldn't another cat have the same opportunity as Morris and Hurley.
This is his first day in his new home. I'll get better pictures soon.

Rudy is a good-looking cat, and I am sure he will help fill that hole in your heart left by your lost kitties. So glad you adopted soon; I don't think you've made a mistake.

I'm so sorry about the loss of both your beloved kitties in such a short amount of time. That is so hard. :frown2: So neat that you decided to take Rudy in.

My story is similar--I lost an almost 18 year old cat who I always called my "only child". It was devastating and I didn't think I wanted to go through that kind of loss again. But less than a month later, we had not one, but two 3 month old kittens in the house. I just couldn't stand the house without a cat in it! I hear you about the energy level--after having an elder kitty, two youngsters were a lot to get used to--I hadn't been around a kitten in 17 years. :lol3:

Welcome to TCS. Post lots of pics, there's no such thing as too many cat photos here. :)

I have to agree that Rudy looks quite at home. That photo reminds me so much of one I took of my sweet, brown tabby girl on her first day at home [emoji]128571[/emoji]
My condolences on your loss of Morris and Hurley. I suspect that both are happy that you have opened your home and hearts to this sweet boy! Enjoy and treasure him [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

Congrats to you and Rudy too for becoming family! So sorry for your losses, it is so devastating. But Rudy needed someone and your household needed him. A cat-empty home is difficult but loving is easy [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

Thank you all-

Yes he settled right in. We are very low key people and our house is fairly quiet (no kids).

Rudy is a total lap kitty and loves belly rubs. He doesn't run or hide when people come to the house. In fact, he requires you pay homage to him upon entering. lol

We are have a 4th party so we will see how he does. I get the feeling he will be the star.

It's hard to believe he has only been home for a couple days.

We just can't help thinking he is younger than 3. Do 3 yr old cats still chase their own tails?

He has some pretty big paws to fill, but seems to be a natural

Well he saw our vet yesterday and he confirms he's about 3. It was funny watching him flip him over and check him out, Rudy just laid on his back, purred and kneaded in the air.

Our vet says he's a "cool" cat and we agree

I am amazed how fast he settled in to his forever home. He is interested in the outdoors, but does not pine to get out.

It's kind of nice having an indoor cat, no fleas, no worries but we live in So Cal and our backyard is part of our house. We spend as much time outdoors as in.

Apparently he's low stress!

Well, it official: Rudy has made himself at home [emoji]10084[/emoji]️
I need to take some anti-stress tips from Mister Rudy [emoji]128164[/emoji][emoji]128164[/emoji]

Please keep us posted on how Rudy continues to do as he settles in....wait, never mind, he IS settled in [emoji]128569[/emoji]

I can see why you adore him, he's so sweet.  I love the photo of him under the towel.

Just stopped by to give an update on Rudy :)
We have had him for about 4 months now and it seems like forever. He is just the sweetest cat we have ever had!

He's put on a couple pounds, and seems very content in his new home. We absolutely adore him.
What an adorable little man! I'm so happy to see this update [emoji]10084[/emoji]️
