This morning my DD found an old picture that had fallen out of something in the foyer where our bookshelves and photo albums are kept.  I didn't know which album it came from so I took one down to put it away and DD started asking about the pictures.  They were mostly from high school and she knows people in there so we went through the whole album.  I came across a couple pictures from one of our youth group trips to 6 Flags.  I think it was taken about 1999.  It seems like just yesterday; but then again not!  I guess in my mind we all stopped aging.

Do you like roller coasters and amusement park rides?  How about water rides or water slides?

I do not really like rides that much.  I don't do loops or big drops even.  I used to like them more; including some spinning types; but after having fluid build up in my ears, its just not fun to mess with my sense of balance anymore!  My Step-dad is a roller coaster nut; so I'm leaving it up to him and DH to take my kids on rides.  My Mom and I are content to watch and enjoy some funnel cake.
But water slides may be an entirely different subject.  I LOVE being in the water and for some reason water takes away the fear of some things.

I like water slides.  One thing I really miss about living in the Midwest was the number of water slides within an hours drive.  There are some near here but I am too embarrassed to have someone behind me on the stairs with my big but in their face.  Shorts are forbidden at most of these places.

Wear men's trunks with a tankini top. That's what I do. They can't object to you wearing trunks if guys are wearing them ;). They don't like you to wear regular shorts because the fabric clogs up the filters if it frays or comes loose. Also wet fabric is heavy. But swim trunks are made for swimming, obviously! :lol3:

I love roller coasters, but not most other rides. I'm scared of heights so any high rides need to be fast (like roller coasters) and not for the whole ride. I also don't like feeling unsafe so I'm sort of picky about the restraint system. The WORST ride for me is those flimsy little swings that go straight out when they spin you. I'm sure the centrifugal force must keep you in your seats or they wouldn't let little kids on the ride, but they seem so flimsy I constantly feel like I'm going to fall out or fly off into the distance :lol3:

I like water parks too, but not the fast slides (wedgie!) or tunnel slides (claustrophobia!).

Aw geez, I love coasters! Stand up coasters, coasters with loops, the screaming metal coasters, the old-style wooden coasters. Any and all coasters. When we would hit the amusement parks, we would just go from one coaster to the next, to the next, and so on. All day long. We've been to so many amusement parks and it was for the coasters only. And we'll stand in line for the first car or the last car. What fun!

We never did much in the water of the water slides or anything like that. It was coasters all the way.

I have women's swim shorts so that's an option too.

I love rides. The only one I've never been on at an amusement park is the drop zone at Canada's Wonderland....and that's only because the line is always massive.

I do too but I don't like them. They're either so short that they end up being "cheeky", or they're pleated and stick out like a skirt in a most unflattering manner. Plus I like them long and finding board shorts marketed for women is hard and they always cost a LOT. But you can get men's trunks for $10-20 and they're longer and fit better (for me anyway). I'm not going to be a sucker and pay $80 for the same thing just because it says "women's" on the label.

I love the old time roller coasters and water slides.  The problem is that I've got a serious fear of heights to the point that I get vertigo and start falling over.  Once I am actually in the roller coaster car or zipping down the water slide, I'm in heaven but getting there?  Brrrrrrrr.

I used to love amusement parks, but never did care much for roller coasters. Now that I'm older, I have problems with balance, too, and wouldn't dare get on one. I'd be throwing up before I got off, and then wouldn't be able to stand.

I loved all rides and roller coasters as a kid and as a teenager but now I'm a bit scared of them.

I still enjoy relatively tame water rides and water slides :)

As a kid I liked very tame rides and never cared for bigger ones. Same holds true now. No roller coasters for me, thanks.

I will take it all! Even the wedgie one. But normally I wear mens swim shorts. No way am I wearing a regular bathing suit right now. I would probably try one of those long skirt type suits but the other day I had an idea-design swim wear similar to gym clothes-those close fitting black shorts-that come halfway to the knee then a tankini type top. I rather do that than bikini bottoms with my belly/butt/hips exposed. I wonder if I could start a trend with this. I think I will try this out the next time I go swimming. Just still wear bikini bottoms underneath the shorts-and no fabric to bounce up and chaffe. The things we have to worry about when we are older-I found out sunday how shorts bunch up and chaffe when I walk. So yes I love water parks. Water slides are my fav. I used to spend the day at the one at Hampton beach.

I used to go to all the amusement parks in NH and Ma, back when cannabi lake park used to have a real pool with diving boards. Then 6 flags in springfield MA with their rides and water park. Love it all but don't enjoy standing in line. I don't like waiting in line. But I have to be careful of what type of restraint system-those ones with the over the chest hold down thingy has a bad habit of beating up my ears-I am short and when the ride is rumbling along I have to hold my head to not touch my ears to the sides-I wear glasses and that hurts. So if its got that thing that comes down overhead then forget it. I love the rides and fun just don't like my ears getting beat up.

Canabi lake park has this room that you go in and back against the wall. it spins and the floor drops. It used to give me such a headache but I loved it. I do have some fear of heights but if I stay put for awhile I am fine, but as I get older I don't trust the fixtures or hardware at the fairs. When we are young we never think about it falling apart-now that  it seems less oversight for these rides and assembly I sometimes worry about it but I try to just block it out and enjoy myself. Its been years since I have been to a park. I don't like people and I don't like it hot so we used to go on rainy days and the crowd was thinner. we wore a raincoat and enjoyed ourselves. my mother and I. The flume at Canabi lake park was my favorite-its a log ride on water. sometimes you get splashed but no huge hills or anything just tunnels and floating along the water canal in a log style boat.

Haha, yes, I WILL NOT go on rides that get taken apart and put on the back of a truck ;). Just no. If they miss one bolt. . .nope. Only permanent amusement parks for me!

...with the cats...
i've never been to a water park, or on a water slide. i've been to amusement parks, and been on a fair number of roller coasters though.

i absolutely hate the long lines, and refuse to deal with them now. and for me, the roller coaster rides are over with so quickly that it just doesn't seem worth the wait in line.

now, i love the kiddie roller coasters! those are fun, and pleasant. no long lines either. i don't mind being up high off the ground, and i really enjoy the view.
