Around midnight tonight I saw a cat walking down the street. I always have extra cat food, I live in a semi-rural/suburban area very close to several Amish farms. I usually see a few feral/stray cats around. I called the kitty and she came right up to me on the porch. Very very friendly!!! She looks a little thin and she is definitely pregnant! I went in for her food and water and came in and out a few times. She is definitely not afraid of people which makes me think she could be a pet or a barn cat. I think I have seen her around the house before but was always on the way to do something.
Long story short I was able to reluctantly coax her in a cage and set her up in my spare bedroom. And plan to take her to the vet tomorrow to see if she is microchipped but I highly doubt it if she isn't spayed.
My questions are:
A) Did I just nab a careless owners cat?
B) I have two cats of my own will they be okay with her in the seperate room over night? How should I sanitize the room?
C) She still looks pregnant to me and doesn't seem like she is lactating how can I be sure I am not separating her from new born kittens. Her belly is huge and firmish.
D) Can I put a dose of revolution on her?

Thank you for the help!!

This her in the house! She certainly isn't acting like a stray. I hope I didn't just nab someone's pet! And she looks clean, her ears are dirty and she does a pear to have something wrong with one of her hind legs. She looks like she has a limp.

She likely used to belong to someone.

I would say if she is pregnant and outside, with an injured leg and dirty ears, and she does have an owner, they certainly aren't doing a very good job of taking care of her (of course she could have snuck out of the house, wound up pregnant and later couldn't find her way home so she was forced to live outside for a while...).

Have you looked online for lost cat ads? I know my area has a site that people can go to to post ads for lost and found pets.

Your 2 cats should be fine, just keep them separated for the night.

She looks pregnant to me as well. And if she is not lactating I highly doubt she is nursing a litter already, so she is likely still pregnant.

I am not sure if revolution is safe for pregnant cats. I will go look it up.

EDIT: yes, Revolution is apparently safe to use on pregnant and/or lactating cats.

Thank you!! I just posted a few ads on Craig's list and lost pet networks. I didn't see any ads for her.

I have had several pregnant cats dumped in my neighborhood over the years and they find their way to my house because of the food. If no one cares about her enough to post an ad, I would say she is homeless. She looks very young, and is definitely tame, I pray that you can find (or give her) a good home, she is most likely exhausted and bewildered besides hungry and afraid. If at all possible give her some highly nutritious kitten food to fatten her up. Being a female, she will most likely be more accepted by your cats, they will definitely have to be separated for a while until everyone gets used to each other, you wouldn't want her to get attacked,   Bless you for finding it in your heart to help this little girl, she found an angel when she found you!

I would love to give her a home! My boyfriend not so much! We just adopted a second cat this past Dec. I don't know anything about care for pregnant cats. So I will have to read up if I can talk him into it. But in the mean time she will go to the vet and I will call the local shelters to see if anyone has room for fostering her. I think she is very adoptable. My kitten will have no problem getting along with her he wanted to be friends with everyone to his detriment. My old girl not so much.
I will definitely find her a good home/foster situation. Not my first time rescuing a stray that made it to my house. Just first pregnant stray.

Luckily I have a whole giant bag of kitten food left over from my kitten.

Update:
So long story short, she ended up being a stray! Of coarse it being kitten season no shelter could take her.

So I have fostered her and her litter ( my very first time)! It has been a long albeit a very rewarding process! Despite my learning curve mom and seven, that's right seven kittens have been doing well!! Shout out to The Pet Pantry for holding my hand through the process I really couldn't have done it with out them!

If you live in the Lancaster, PA area the kittens will be available in about a months time. And mom will be available in about two weeks!

God bless you!  This was a monumental job and you have done so well.    They are adorable kittens and look very healthy.

Fingers crossed you find good homes for everyone.
