Sundar hounds me about going outside.  He can open all the 'outside' doors so I must keep them locked.  But I forgot today and he opened the back door and started to head for his favourite 'out' spot where he sits until I notice he's gone and I go out to collect him.  But today I managed to grab him in time.  It's raining you see.

I picked him up and held him.. his ears twitched with the rain but he was still keen.  So I held him some more and he looked at me, ears twitching madly, giving me a look that said: 'there is water falling out of the sky'.  So I looked him in the eye and said 'yes, that is normally what 'outside' is like.  You have just been very, very lucky in the past.  Normally water is always falling out of the sky, everywhere 'outside'.  Your cat enclosure is safe.. it has a magic rain shield.  But everywhere else... wet."

Then I heard my neighbour, who was sitting just over the fence in their covered outdoor space, say to her husband 'It's been on the cards for a while, but she's finally lost it'.

Had any conversations with your cat lately that make you sound just a little crazy?

OMG, that's hilarious! It comes with being a cat mama. I swear it does.

Well, Dear Richard thinks I've completely lost what little mind I had left. I was working in the flowerbed out front and while I was weeding, I was talking to Rupert (for those of you who don't know, Rupert is the gargoyle who lives in our front yard). It was more like complaining to him about how hot it was and how I could use something cold to drink.

Mollipop must have heard me because she jumped into the cat-napper in the bedroom window and started kitty-cussing me out big time. Here I was complaining about having to be outside and she was dying to come out! Dying, I tell you! That girl wanted out in the worst way. I stood up and told her to meet me at the front door and I'd bring her out for a few minutes. Maybe we could go 'round back and she could see what Dad was up to.

Little did I know that Rick was standing off to the side and listening to everything I was saying. He heard me talking to Rupert, then he heard Molli and I yakking. When I told Molli to meet me at the front door, he came over and said, "What are the chances that she's going to be at the front door?" Until we walked over to the door and there was Molli stretching w---a---y up to the door handle!
She knows what "Meet me at the front door means." Yes, she does. We've gone through this often enough during the summer.

Rick said that if this was Colonial America, I'd probably be hanged as a witch. And Mollipop as my familiar. It was like we were having an actual conversation with me talking to her and she meowing back at me....and I understood every meow. And when I said that she was kitty-cussing me out because she wanted to come outside, he said he believed every word.

These kind of stories make me really happy that I don't have any neighbors....and that most of the people who do overhear me don't speak English anyway.

Mr Husband tends to tune me out when I'm talking to the cats, but every now and then he'll eavesdrop. One time I was telling them all off for leaving a dead mole in the kitchen.

"You know the rules guys. You're supposed to eat what you kill. Got that? If you kill something eat it!"

Then Mr Husband pipes up, "And what about all those mosquitoes you swat?"

There are some classic 'partner lines' your posts @Winchester and @Norachan

I rarely get caught out as I live alone.

I've had plenty of odd talks with Abby. :lol3: When I clip her claws, there is often the "We don't bit in this house" one. :lol3: I am embarrassed to say I often talk baby talk to her and Aaron always says I "coo" at her. I respond that she likes it and he has to admit she does. :lol3:

I think the baby talk is pretty common.

At meal time I hear myself calling out  'food-a-loodie time - Nilah-bed-eel-a,  Sundar-woonda!

(and if the window is open, no doubt my neighbours would hear me, thus adding to their 'she's losing it' theory.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
I talk to Honeybee all the time. I talk to all 3 of them. They usually meow back at me.

Outside I say "come here Floey-come on Floey Flo O E! Tiger full of TOE-E's!"

Pumpkin face is "Pumpy Lumpy Pretty Pumpkin Face! Or just Pumpy or Pumps. Lumpers or Pumpy Lumpy."

Honeybee- "Humbee-Hubee! HoneyHoney Bee! Or we just say "Bee!!"  "Bee!"  or Bee Kitty!

This is when I call her from in the house when she is out-usually out the kitchen window or livingroom window. Her favorite thing is to run to the front door and meow at me waiting to come in. Then jumps up for treats on Daddy then scampers her way out the back door-and 10 min later she sits in front of the livingroom window meowing at me. And this is her routine. Crazy BEE KITTY!

Honeybee is spoken to all the time. She meows back at me. And follows me around. SHe loves to wait for me to pull up in my truck and waits for me to open the door then runs up and sits on my lap chattering and purring. She rubs her head all over my hand and nips me. Then hops down as if to say, "Come on mom!"

The neighbors probably think I have a screw loose and I don't care! :)

Kitty cussing!! Floey hisses at me when she is not happy about something. Rarely does she bite. Only if its grooming time and she says she had enough. I chitchat to them all the time. They each have their own nicknames and funny sing-alongs.

I've gotten the crazy looks for talking to myself sometimes...

I talk with my babies all the time! Most of them will talk back to me. I used to have conversations with Lucky ALL the time. I miss having those conversations. They usually went something like this (and almost always in the bathroom :lol3: ).

Me: Hello Lucky!
Lucky: Mrah!
Me: How are you doing today?
Lucky: Mrrrrow!
Me: Oh, that is good to hear! I love you so much you little worm!
Lucky: *purrrrrrr* *rubs leg with head* *does flippy thing on floor that is so adorable*

I have very similar conversations with Oscar, except his end of the conversation sounds more like the "er" part of the Budweiser frogs :lol3:

Me: Hello Oscar!
Oscar: Errrr

I'm laughing just thinking about it.

It's funny the way we elongate their names into something sing-songy.  So many people seem to do that.

I talk to Artie all the time!!

I say Good morning to him, and give him a hug and kiss.

During the day, I just chat with him..He does answer back with a "BRwwwow"...or a 'yeaw"

When he wants my closet door open, he goes over to the door, does a "MEOWW", then sits and waits.

When it is time for bed, I say, "time for loo-loo"....(Polish for sleep), nite-nite...Many times he follows me and jumps in bed to cuddle.

When he does something wrong, all I have to do is go over to him, and point down. He jumps down immediately, ears back, and sasses me back. I tell him, not to sass me. And he does it again..and walks away--ears down...Tell him "bad boy' and he knows what it means.. his ears go down.

Artie also knows when it is mealtime. I say, "want num-num?"  "Artie want nummies?"

He knows exactly what I mean. He comes running!

I would just love it if my two spoke back @Artiemom .  They're not really talkers.

Sometimes, when I am gone from the house for a while, and Artie poops, he will yell at me when I get home; especially if I do out late and return home when it is dark.

When the food dish is empty, I hear about it!!

As soon as I open the door,  Artie will run up to me, meowing all over the place, following me, leading me around to different spots. It is a guessing game until I find out what he is telling me!!!

Kind of cute...He all gives me all heck for being away...He is giving me a 'piece of his mind'...
