Hello, there. I just adopted a new female kitten and, since it's been a long time since I last took care of one of those, I just wanted to share some doubts with you guys.

:)

- It's been a week since the new kitten (Maya) arrived at my house and my other cat (and adult adopted two weeks ago, Céu) stll doesn't  get along with her. That's normal, right? It may take some time for her to get used? She is not very agressive to the kitten, just the common hissing and only twice she attacked her with her paw (the kitten was playing and jumped on her while she was eating... twice). Once I even found them sleeping on the same couch, wich was very surprising. Any chance they'll become friends?

- How much does a kitten eat? She was alone, without a mother and is around 50 days old. The vet said I could give her solid food and recommended a specific type of kitten food. She also warned my she has anemia. A friend of mine, who also likes cats, said I should give her raw meat. Is it good for a kitten? I also ask that because I see her eating so little food that it worries me.

- She meows a lot. Even with food, water and clean litterbox, she meows quite a lot. She meows when I pet her, when she is playing, when she is not doing anything, when she is exploring the house... is that normal too? Is she just vocal? In the beggining, I was worried she was in pain.

- She is terrified of sleeping alone and meows a lot when it happens. To avoid that, she's been sleeping with me in my bed these days and that calmed her a lot. Should I continue doing it, since she is a kitten? Or should I try to educate her and make her sleep alone sometimes?

Thanks in advance!

:)

Your kitten sounds hungry! How old is she? Anemia is not good.

I suggest that you buy Gerber turkey or chicken baby food and feed the kitten from your finger.

Also try Fancy Feast kitten wet food in the turkey flavor. Both are very easy to eat and digest and high in protein to cure anemia. Your kitten may like it better than what the vet recommended.

Your kitten needs to drink kitten formula. Get powdered Pet Ag KMR. Pour it over dry kitten chow, and also serve it in a dish. It has lots of nutrition!

You need to do whatever it takes to get your kitten to eat wet food and kitten milk 6 times a day. Kitten chow should be available 24/7.

It's fine for the kitten to sleep with you. She needs comforting!

Your other cat will learn to get along with the kitten over time! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Please go shopping at Walmart for the items I suggested for your kitten, and let me know if she begins to eat better!

I'm not sure about raw meat.  She should have small meals of wet food 5 -6 times a day.  You could get some KMR (Kitten Milk replacer), powder is better than pre-mixed, Pet Ag, Royal Canin and GNC all have good KMR.  Avoid Hartz.  Give her a dish or two a day.  Or you can mix it with her wet food to make a slush so it is easier for her to lap up.  As she grows she'll eat more but right now she has a tiny stomach.  Remember you can't leave the wet down for more than 2 hours if even that.  It could make her sick if it has sat out too long especially if it is very warm where you are.

You can give her a small stuffed animal to nap with during the day.

I will do as you suggested, thanks!

I'm having some trouble feeding the kitten multiple times on a daily schedule because he wasn't planned (a co-worker found her, took home, her parents didn't let her keep the kitten and she asked me if I could keep since I had just adopted another cat) and my wife is on a trip abroad. So, I'm alone with her for the moment. For some lucky reason, she ate quite well today, after I posted this here. Still, I'm going to get her the milk and other products. She is so skinny that if feels like she will break apart, the poor thing.

Oh, and here they are.

The first one is Maya, the kitten. She looks like a toy in this picture
And this is the adult one, Céu (Sky, in portuguese)

They are both very beautiful!

Leave dry kitten chow down when you are gone. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
