Strange lesion on kitten's hand?

Hi everyone,
This is my first post on the forums. I have very little experience with cats. A couple of weeks ago, I found 4 little orphaned kittens around my house. I searched the internet for how to feed little kittens and I've been doing fine since then. Lately, I noticed this strange terribly looking lesion -I don't know what it is exactly- on one of the kitten's right hand. In this side of the world, I have no access to a vet. I didn't know what to do, so I tried to clean his hand with water and Dettol, then I applied antibiotic ointment to it and wrapped it in wound dressing but it didn't get any better since and almost stayed the same. I really don't know what to do. A friend of mine told me it's a kind of cat scabies, but I'm not convinced. I've taken a couple of pictures and attached them to this post. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Could be an abscess? It almost looks like the paw has been burned on something? Could that be possible?

Either way, if it is yellow or white in color (it looks like it has yellow or white puss, which would indicate an infection) then it is infected and needs to be treated with antibiotics or the infection will definitely spread.

I agree. It looks abscessed and needs antibiotics. It is probably painful. It does need antibiotics.

Can you get antibiotics easily in your area? Where are you located?

Thank you for saving these kittens. Please let us know how the paw is doing.

First of all, thanks to everyone who tried to help. I really appreciate it. I agree with you. Abscess is the most likely explanation. I don't have access to veterinary medications, but human medications are abundantly available. I bought a couple of broad-spectrum antibiotic vials (Amoxycillin + Flucloxacillin), and after searching the internet and watching a lot of videos, I can now give the kittens intramuscular injection. It wasn't easy, but it went smoothly without any problems or complications. I injected about 100 mg of the drug using insulin syringe needle. I'm planning to administer the drug three times a day, but I don't know if that's enough or may be too much. I noticed that the other kittens also have small early ulcers in development, so I used topical human antibiotic ointment (Gentamycin) on all four legs of the other kittens. I moved the kittens to a different room with much softer floor. I think it's going to take a while for the lesion to heal. I'm very patient but I hope what I did will help. I'll keep you updated. Thanks a lot for your help. I'm very grateful. If you have any suggestions, I'd be more than happy to hear from you. Have a good day.

Regarding the cause of this abscess, I still don't know. Burning is highly unlikely as I keep them in a controlled room with no access to any hot objects.

Are you able to get the antibiotic as a liquid? Then you can give it with a needleless syringe by mouth. It would probably be easier for you and the kittens.

Since you are now seeing this on the other kittens, it is probably a contagious infection of some sort, which still would require antibiotics.

I am wondering how your kittens are doing?

It has since occurred to me that your kittens may have hookworms. One of the early symptoms is lesions on the bottom of the paw pads. This is where the hookworms have entered the cat's body.

The treatment is a de-worming medication that specifically kills hookworms. If not treated the kittens may become quite ill.

Can you look into this please?

Thanks a lot sarthur2. I've spent hours on the internet looking for causes of lesions on the paw pads, but I couldn't find any. After reading a couple of articles about feline hookworm, it should be taken into consideration. Although I didn't notice any blood in the stool, a de-worming medication would be a good precaution. Generally, the recommended dose of Mebendazole for cats is 20 mg/kg for consecutive three days and then repeating the treatment after 2-4 weeks interval. However, the only available dosage I could find in local pharmacies is 100 mg tablets. I am thinking of dissolving the content of one tablet in 10 mL of distilled water and giving each of the kittens 1 mL/day since their approximate weight is probably 0.5 kg. Tell me what you think. Again, thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it.

Have a good day.

I think that is a good idea, and am hoping that this will solve the problem.

Please let me know if the kittens get better after this treatment.

Again, thank you for your continued care of these kittens.
