So, I'm fostering this little kitten for my local SPCA, and he just looks funny. He came from a hoarder's house, so we have no idea who is parents were. He has two supposed siblings (being from a hoarder, they may not actually be related, but they were found together) that are both sleek and black, one having a white bow tie.

To summarize his appearance, Bear is a little dark brown kitten with thin fur, short whiskers, big ears, and faint stripes. He's a bit chubby, but that's because he's recovering from a bout of constipation. His fur is particularly thin on his stomach. His head, paws, and tail are darker than the rest of his body.

At first I just thought he was funny looking. The SPCA said that black cats sometimes loose some color if they're outside for too long, like sun bleaching.

But my sister thinks that he might be part Rex, Cornish or otherwise. He has a similar looking face to some I've seen online, and the color matches somewhat. He even looks to have little wrinkles on his face. That would also explain his thin fur.

What do you guys think? I know he's mixed, being a shelter cat and all, but I was curious. It doesn't particularly matter since he'll be fixed and adopted soon, and personality trumps breed 100% of the time.

This is Bear:

A look at his face and coloring.

More coloring, head proportions.

His tummy, and a look at the stripes on his sides.

Side stripes, and a playmate, Socks.

He looks darker here, but he's still brown.

This kitten is adorable! I am not sure what kind of a kitten Bear is. Welcome to TCS. Someone here might venture a guess as to what breed he is. You will love this site. Thank you for taking Bear. If possible post more pics. He is just darling.

I think it's too soon to tell as I suspect the thin hair is due to lack of proper nutrition and/or fleas. I would suspect that a lot of what you see is mostly his undercoat. It'll take several weeks to a few months of proper care and nutrition for all his fur to grown in properly.

I agree with CatPack, it will be easier to see when he gets more healthy and a little older, and also grows into his ears and paws.  Or  doesnt grow into them.  :).

Continue to try and get good pics!  Very dark cats arent  easy to get good pics from.

Re his darker head, tail and paws.  It sounds as a point of some sort, but most probable its no true point,  is he had a so called fever coat as little kitten.

But if it remains, it isnt impossible he may have a burmanese point in him.  they are a lot darker in body then the much more common "siamese-mixes".
