Are they in a room with a door?
Yes. She's in our bedroom with the door closed. I thought if we put her in the crate she'd have to stay with the kittens. They aren't crying. They are bundled up in some fleece sleeping. All breathing fine, the crawl around.

That's good. She'll go to them when they mew for food. Most cats do not appreciate being confined in a crate. And it takes 24-48 hours for new moms to settle in fully.

Can u tell I'm totally excited about these babies?!? Lol ok sooo babies are now 19 hours old. They seem to be doing pretty good. Sadie (mama) still sucks at this but, I'm trying to be patient. She's a first time mommy, everyone has been in and out (her humans) to see her babies so she's probably worn out and tired. The babies haven't cried hungry so I'm guessing they are satisfied for now....I just got back from the store. I bought wet food for mom, powder milk for babies and scales. Now id like to introduce them

#1 80 grams
#2 76 grams
#3 (khaki) 75 grams
#4 (nom nom) 86 grams
#5 (milo) 73 grams

Now I have no idea what the ideal weights are supposed to be at birth. I do know mama mated 60-63 days ago. She is a small kitty herself weighing around 7lbs (I just weighed her)

The babies are precious, but all 5 are below normal birth weight, which is 90+ grams.

So keep a close eye on them. If they do not begin to gain 6-10 grams per day, they will need supplementing.

You could even begin topping them off with 1 mL each with the syringe every couple of hours now. It can't hurt.

Idk if she's just a small breed or what. Her sister is rag doll full grown and weighs 4lbs. They just nursed so I had formula ready but when mama got up they all balled up and went to sleep :) Sadie isn't a vigilant mom. She stays close to them but not with them all the time. I've got alarms set for every 2 hours just in case....formula and syringe ready. I just hope that since all the humans have settled down with our new crew Sadie will be more relaxed. She did a very good nursing this session with only myself and my husband in the room.

You might want to weigh them every 12 hours to see how they are doing these first few days. Weighing is the only way to know for sure that they are getting enough milk to grow on.

All 4 of mine were below 90 grams too,(79, 76, 90, 87) these weights were taken 12 hours after birth. They did great and I didn't need to supplement, BUT I did make sure they all latched on to feed every 2 hours round the clock for the first 3 days. After that I checked in every 4. It's exciting having kittens in the house. [emoji]128513[/emoji]

Thank you!! Yes I have their initial weight recorded. I'm going to do whatever I can to help these babies :)

Also, I would've stepped in, but they were gaining really well. So do step in when needed.[emoji]128522[/emoji]
Luckily I'm home for the weekend. Monday I'll be gone to work for 12 hours. I dread it bc I'm going to be worried about them. I'm going to try and teach my kids 2moro. Hopefully they can step in and such. Do I need the heating pad since mama doesn't stay with them??

Yes. Put the heating pad on low under the blanket, but with room for them to move off if they get too warm. But they need it! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

The babies are warm and swaddled. Mama has returned to sleeping at my husbands feet as she did pre preggars. I just figured she'd be more attending to them than she's being but it's all new to me. Sadie is the head huncho here with all the pets. She's never been a social kitty. She loves me & daddy that's about it.

Just making sure you know that formula and kittens must be warm before any feeding. They really are adorable.

How is mama doing with your male cat?

So far so good FINALLY!! She seems to be taking care of the babies now. Well, until now she hasn't cared what animals were in here. We've tried to keep all pets away but they trickle in thanks to our kids. But now she seems to do better with her babies with minimal stimuli. I've kicked the males outside. One of them was daddy. The other one we think is gay lol he's not interested in anything but grooming himself and cuddling. The daddy is an overweight, lazy cat. Bless it, he likes to eat around the clock and sleep.

Ok so I've weighed the babies 8 hours apart

8:30p 6/25
80 grams black kitten
76 grams orange
75 grams khaki
86 grams nom nom
73 grams milo jr

4:30a 6/26
Black kitten 80g
Orange 79g
Khaki 75g
Nom nom 90g
Milo 79-80g

Black and khaki are the same.
Nom Nom (white kitten) gained 4
And Milo gained 6-7.

I haven't had to feed them so that's good!! Mama Sadie is taking care of them now (thank God) and the babies have voided and had bowel movements. So this is good right?!?

Yes, its good.  but keep an watchfull eye, esp on these whom hadnt gained.  It may still be necessary you must supplement them, but lets hope the tendency is broken i a positive way in overall, as momma is actively helping them now.

you may have to supplement the two that are not gaining. just make sure they are warm first then use warm water and formula and the syringe. they need to gain 6 to 10 grams a day. you may just need to supplement today to make sure they gain for when you are gone tomorrow. I would feed those two every 2 hours today. see how it goes.

Have you started supplementing the two who did not gain? They need it. 1 mL every 1-2 hours.

Good morning, afternoon whatever lol so we did a 12:30pm weigh in. All the babies have gained. Mama has completely taken over her babies!! She's voluntarily staying with them, protective, cleaning them & nursing them. I've provided her with Wet food, dry food and water right outside her nest. She goes out every 4 hours to stretch and potty. I'm SO relieved that she's doing so much better! I was so worried that she'd neglect them & some would probably die bc it's hard work to bottle feed 5 babies every 2 hours! I haven't supplemented yet. I've been ready but the babies have nursed & slept on mama.
