Yes they are about 12 hours old now. Mama cat doesn't stay with them though. I just checked on them and they are bundled in the closet and mama is in a window seal :/

Congratulations! We'd love to see more photos, and some with mom too!

Can you weigh all the babies? You may have a runt with that many.

You can go ahead and change the bedding whenever now.

Mom should have water, dry kitten food, and a litter box nearby at all times. She should also have wet kitten food offered several times a day.

Can you keep mom 100% inside and away from intact males? She can get pregnant again within a week of delivery and without going into heat.

It's okay for Mama to take a break while they sleep. Does she run back to them when they mew for food?

Also, do you have a heating pad or hot water bottle you can put in the nest?

Congratulations!  What a beautiful family.

Nursing moms eat a lot.  Be sure to offer wet kitten food 3 - 4 times a day and leave dry kitten food and water down 24/7.  Kitten food has more nutrients and mom can use those and will also pass them on to the kittens.

Husband is getting a scale now. I put food and water in a crate with mama and babies and she spilled the water. Sadie is a year and 4 months old. This is her 1st litter. She doesn't let them nurse long and we put the kittens up to her to suckle. Otherwise she stands at the door of the crate looking at us like we put her in jail lol. She's an inside cat only. Yes I have a heating pad.

I have a heating pad. And she doesn't seem to want to nurse. She did move them from the closet to our bed bc Daddy ran in here. Now she's in the dining room chilling under a bar stool :/
I'm a first time kitty mommy with my baby having babies. I just don't want them to die

Good you have a heating pad, you need to make sure the babies don't get cold in their nest. Do you have a bottle or needleless syringe ready to feed the kitties with in case the mom doesnt want to/or can't nurse?

Feed them KMR, you can get it in canned or powdered form. Pets stores  have it, or depending on where you life, Walmarts and the like as well. PetAg is a good brand I heard (I havn't had to bottle feed any kittens myself), but I'm sure other brands are ok too.

Powdered KMR-kitten milk replacement PetAg brand. stay away from Hartz or sergent. Only powdered-the premix has had issues with the kittens. you can also get some makeup sponges to feed them this way-they can suckle off the sponge while you use the syringe to wet the sponge but most people use bottles. Remember always feed belly DOWN and head up. They don't get fed like humans otherwise they aspirate and we don't want that. the syringe goes at the corner of the mouth one drop at a time-let them swallow and take a breathe then another drop. hopefully they will get what they need from momcat but usually it is harder to get them on a bottle if they are already nursing on mom.

also make sure they are warm to the touch before feeding. they cant regulate temperate and you will need to stimulate them to potty before and after feeding. I know other more experienced folk will chime in. It will be ok! We will help you! those kittens are sooo adorable!!

As momma is a little reluctant, you must be prepared to step in.  You will know for sure as soon you get the weighting going, they shall add minimum 6+g a day, preferably 10g+...  In the beginning measure every 12 hours.

You use kitten mothermilk replacement kmr - the best is made by PetAg, called KMR, and is in powder.

There are also other good brands, as Royal Canins equivalent.

Goats milk is ok to use if in pinch.  Some resuers use it even consistently, and are happy with it.

You need to put mom and babies in a nest in a room where you can close the door so mom has to stay with her kittens. She should settle down in a day or two if you do that.

Is dad neutered now? If not, he should not be allowed around mom and babies at all. Agreed that mom and babies should be closed in a room for now.

It sounds like mom does not like the crate. I would use an open box with sides in a room with a door. Mom might relax more outside the crate. It sounds like she needs peace and quiet and privacy.

Thank you!! I'm hoping Sadie Louise is just tired and overwhelmed & she will come around! We've got a crate, we locked her in with babies but she spilled the water. The babies are sleeping now in a "nest" I made for them. Mama is chilling in the window seal.
