Hello! I am here today to ask about treats/supplements. Our cat has breathing and allergy issues, and the vet told us to give her lysine. We gave it to her for a while, but it so traumatic for her we stopped. Today I remember about her favorite treats, Catty Shack catnip. She adored those. Well, our stores stopped carrying them. We can't find them anywhere. So I thought about baking our own catnip treats for her, and inserting lysine into them. So, does anyone know of any recipes for the treat? She doesn't have any food allergies, as far as I know. Real meat makes her throw up though. Sorry if this doesn't belong here. If it doesn't, please let me know and I will delete it.

Have you tried her on any of the lysine chews that are available now? I'd definitely try that before making my own treats. Lysine chews on Amazon.

I find it very odd that your cats vomits after eating meat - cats are obligate carnivores, after all, and meat is what they're designed to eat ;) Which meats have you tried? It may an allergy to a specific type or types of meat, rather than an issue with all meats.

I'm afraid I don't have any cat treat recipies to share, though. Maybe some other members will :)

These articles may help too:-[article="32724"][/article][article="22402"][/article]

Yep. She doesn't like them. She is a picky eater. She can't eat common meats. Wild meat she can digest (mice, rabbits, etc).

A lot of people have success with Greenies Pill Pockets. From what I've read, most cats love them. I've always wrapped a pill in paté or soft cheese and then fed it as a treat. That can work very well too.

Another option is to take a lysine capsule, empty out the contents, and then simply mix it into her cat food...or a little canned tuna/mackerel etc if she's ok with fish. Just don't use too much food when doing this, so that she doesn't have to eat a huge amount to get her daily dose ;)

You don't know her. XD She is ultra picky. She even turned down Wild County rabbit treats. Rabbit is her favorite meat! I will try the pill pockets though. :) If anything we can just give them to our cat shaped garbage disposal. She eats dry food, and shares it with the rest of the cats, so that wouldn't work out too well. Thanks for the advice though! :)
