My fiancee and I have a dog. He's a Saint Bernard. At 90 pounds and nine months old he is still a puppy. We have a roommate who wanted a kitten. We first adopted an adult cat, she is about a year old. She got along fine with our pup, it didn't take long. We have had no problems with the older cat. In fact, she's been great.

We then decided to get two kittens. Why? Well, we have enough room and time. We can afford the vet bills and we don't have any children and don't plan on having any. So, shouldn't be an issue. I did have a cat, he was three years old. Sadly, he was killed by a neighborhood teenager. Yes, since then he was arrested and charged. My animal wasn't the only one. These kittens and cat will never go outside. We plan on building caged decks for them to hang out in and watch cat TV. We are also moving in about three months to an even bigger place. The roommate is leaving tomorrow and taking one of the kittens. We're happy with the three animals we do have and don't plan on getting anymore.

I know it's going to be a little hard on the kittens because they are litter mates but our older cat has taken to bathing them and even nursing them a bit. Well, at first after a few weeks she had enough of them attempting to nurse. So, we have these two little balls of fur. They have two litter boxes which are short enough for them to get into. They eat kitten food the cat eats her food. They have plenty of toys and don't mind the dog. In fact, they've been rubbing up against his face and he licks and drools all over them.

Here is the big issue. All of our animals have been to a vet. They all have their shots. The kitten goes in soon to be neutered. The older cat has already been spayed. These two kittens were using the litter box. They may have had an accident or two but they were using them. Our roommate left for a week for a trip back home. And these two little balls of fluff started peeing in corners, on my bed, where I sit, and on top of the dog's kennel where there is a blanket because that's where they enjoy sitting.

I have used an enzyme cleaner to break up the smell and cleaned the area but they keep defecating and urinating where my scent is the most. I have puppy pads down in the corner of the room and they've used them but won't stop going on my bed and my favorite chair. I love these little fluff balls but I'm not sure what to do. And no they do not have UTI's, the vet cleared them both because we picked them up at a shelter and I wanted to make sure.

I've read that kittens sometimes mark where they feel the most comfortable. Okay, fine. Makes sense considering I pet them the most. Awesome, the kittens are comfy, so ah how do I remain comfy?

Thank you!

Adding to @CatPack's questions, where are the litterboxes located? Kittens should not be peeing where they play or feel comfortable. Marking with urine is different from peeing and that's where their age comes into play. If they're very young, they're probably not marking with urine, just peeing.

Here's an article that explains the difference -

The litter boxes are located at the back of the house, easily accessed in a quiet room. I scoop them every other day. I have two because well, we have three cats here, and sometimes adult cats don't like sharing with kittens. Our adult cat doesn't seem to care though. The other kitten is gone now, our roommate and best friend has moved out of state. I am hoping that our kitten takes after the adult cat's behavior, and the smells are no longer coming from where the other kitten was urinating. So, it's no longer both kittens.

We have had the kittens for about a month and a half. They were eleven weeks old when we picked them up. They were using the litter box by that time and had stopped nursing. I don't think it's marking as a territorial thing. Our kitten is too young for that and he's going to be neutered next month.

Ok. I'm going to recommend you scoop the litter boxes twice a day. Many cats simply will not use a dirty box. Some will not even use it if the box has been only used once. As the kittens get older they develop their own preferences and this may be what is going on with yours.
