Hi everyone! Thanks for reading this.

It is my first time giving my kitty dry food and I thought Whiskas was the best brand to choose.
This is his 4th day on it and I decided to do a quick search about how to proceed.
Whiskas seems to be the lowest quality as for the comments I've read. I am so confused.
What are you guys using?
What do you suggest me to buy?
Much thanks in advance. Have a great day..

None of our shelter cats, including the ferals, will eat Whiskas dry or canned food. What other brands are available where you live?

So you mean it is that bad?
Well, being not verysure of the other ones, I have heard Goody, Hill's, Iams and Pro Plan.
There mat be some others but as I am so new to it, I don't know exactly what.
Thanks..

A quick perusal of comments on this board will reveal to you that many folks here are quite opposed to feeding cats brands such as Whikas, Meow Mix and the like.  Of course, some cat owners will say that their pet ate such stuff every day and twice on Sundays (LOL) and lived to be 30.

Only you can decide what your budget can afford.  Be assured that there are brands out there that are much more nutritious than Whiskas, but aren't much more expensive.  You will find that most such brands/recipies contain grains.  That's another debate.  Here are some reasonable-cost dry recipes to consider for your kitten:

Purina Kitten Formula

Purina Indoor Advantage

Iams Kitten ProActive

Rachael Ray Nutrish (including grain free)

Evolve Grain Free Chicken

Authority (Petsmart) Kitten Food

Skip dry food, feed 100% wet food. Lower quality decent wet food brands are Fancy Feast Classic or Sheba pate.

I was waiting for someone to mention not to feed dry, that is the worst thing you could give a cat. ANY wet food is better. If there are no pet stores where you live there are lots of choices for buying online. I've found that chewy pretty much has the lowest prices around for quite a few different brands. They even sell by the case so you can stock up & they give FREE shipping!

Thank you both! Tomorrow I am going to buy something different than Whiskas, probably Purina as it seems to be the best...
Take care..

Oh okay, I didn't know that actually. I had been feeding him homemade cat food but decided to switch to something more nutritious. Thanks a lot!

Thankfully martha is not fussy with what she eats so I got a pack of sainsburys cat food x48 sachets for £9 and she seems to like them. She loves whiskas temptations but doesn't like dreamies. Odd??? But my mums cat didnt like Whiskas either she liked Felix. Some people say whiskas is to rich

@Gulbeseker  What kind of homemade food were you feeding? Like meat/poultry with supplements?  And what could possibly make you think that kibble is more nutritious???

My routine is similar to Meuzettesmom;  my gal gets dry and wet and I rotate the wet brands quite a bit.  Although, the thing is, my gal is a rescue cat who came to me preferring dry food.  Therefore she eats dry every day.  Fortunately she's an ample drinker.  And from time-to-time I add my own cooked food to her menu.  I just set aside a raw pork chop or piece of raw beef, cook it gently without seasoning, mince it and usually mix it in with a portion of wet canned food.  She also gets a sardine or two on occasion  (soak them first to remove excess salt or sauce).

Well, I was feeding him boiled chicken, cooked egg yolk and cheese. And every now and then diluted milk.
I also try to add fish oil and vitamin E to his meals whenever he is the hungriest.. Because he refuses to eat it otherwise.

A lot of cats have issues with dairy. I would stay away from cheese & milk.

I live in Turkey, we mostly have a variety of brands here, I was just curious and coy so I had to ask.. Experience makes everything easier..

In paradise, under a cat pile
Some cats never get over eating the kibble. I have had sixteen cats in my lifetime. They are not with you long enough anyway. So why not feed what makes them happy and content. I know eating healthy for my self is best but I still enjoy a bag of Cheetos and potatoes chips ever once in a while.
