Good morning!
 And Happy Friday!

Easy question this morning: Cable DISH, Direct TV, Other? How do you get television, internet, etc. connection?

We have cable and cable internet. Every year, the cost gets higher and higher.

I have my internet with Comcast. I do not subscribe to any cable or satellite TV service. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming. That's all I need.

I have fairpoint for dsl internet and directv for cable but I will probably get rid of it next year. I called and complained about expensive bill and they cut 30% off my rate=-so call and complain-they may do something or not. after the 12 month time I am chopping it and going with internet for my news etc. Jon watches tv all the time-I never used to watch tv. always music and online chitchat.

my phone service is currently through time warner, as is my internet. but, time warner was bought by comcast...
i got a letter from comcast saying they're going to be changing the time warner name to 'spectrum'...still
i'm just waiting for the rate increases and extra charges to start appearing, then will change service providers.

for tv, i have a roku which allows me to watch PBS and other channels. i also watch shows online via the PBS website. then there's the dare tube, which offers so very many tv shows and movies. i also have amazon prime, so can and sometimes do watch tv shows/movies via amazon instant video. and there are 3 websites that offer classic movies free, my favorite of which is the internet archive.

Ditto.

I can't freaking believe we pay close to $300 now for our service. It's brutal.

We've been considering cutting the cord for a while.  Might happen soon because we had to buy a new TV for the living room and Tom picked one that has fantastic features built in which enable us to log onto and stream such things as Netflix, Youtube and Amazon.  We'd then only keep Comcast for our internet.  I do have to say that that service is fantastic.

I cut the cord in August 2013 right after DD went to school. I wasn't going to continue paying Dish Network $130.00/month just for myself. I have never looked back. DN and friends can kiss my four legged beast of burden.

I switched to Comcast internet after I could not deal with the horrible service from AT&T one more second. Comcast is WAY better. We use AT&T for our cell phone service and we are happy with that.

I have Time Warner internet and TV and yes it's true the price is rediculous.  The Comcast merger got nixed at the last minute http://corporate.comcast.com/news-information/news-feed/comcast-twc-charter-transactions-terminated    Now it's just Charter and Time Warner with the new name Spectrum.  Considering that Comcast and TWC were at the bottom for customer satisfaction that is a good thing.  I remember when the merger was still on internet access got terrible.  The rumor was TWC employees were not happy with how they were being treated by the Comcast merger so there was sabotage going on.

I have Comcast for TV and AT&T for Internet. The combined cost is about $180 per month. It's outrageous, and each year it increases. I do not subscribe to any premium channels, either, just the basic tier. Both companies would like me to bundle services to reduce the cost, but for how long? I would also have to change the phone line to VOIP, which we had a lot of trouble with at the last place I worked. I am very reluctant to give up my landline, and AT&T is the only company that still has them. Even in a power outage, the phones work. AT&T's bundle would also switch to VOIP.

We have a satellite dish and also have something called an android box (it's a one time cost and you can watch pretty much anything). We have Internet through a company called Teksavvy. It's run through one of the big companies but about half the price.

We have At&t for internet and phone. We don't have cable but we have streaming. My kids live on Youtube. They have a lot of children's shows and it keeps their attention long enough to get the house clean or meals cooked?

How interesting. I remember there being a cable-like service back when I was a kid called "Spectrum", along with another one called "On-TV", which is what we had. I think both ended up being phased out with cable, but interesting to see the name of the one brought back.

I have DirecTV for the TV stuff (satellite), and AT&T for everything else (landline, cell phone, and internet). Although, DirecTV was bought by AT&T, so I have to wonder if they'll eventually phase out DirecTV entirely and just have it all under the AT&T name.

Edit: After looking up Spectrum (oh, nostalgia), looks like that was only in Chicago! OnTV was only available in a handful of cities (including Chicago). I never knew that!

AT&T used to have a cable/internet service called U-verse, they might still have it.  I had it for awhile and it was a disaster.  When you lose one you also lose the other.  Mine went out and it would be 6 days before someone would come out to fix it.  I work from home and that just would not work for me.  TWC usually has next day service for repairs, sometimes if you call early in the morning it is same day service.  I remember I even had to send the equipment back via UPS.  I didn't have to pay for it but that just shows that they do not have the infra structure for support.  With TWC if one of my boxes go out I can just take it to one of their many offices and exchange it.

They still have U-Verse. I heard people absolutely raving about it, followed by getting rid of it as soon as their contract was up. I have it for the internet only, refused to tie it into my TV. It's decent enough for internet.

I have Comcast for TV and Internet.  I have a magic jack for my house phone, works well but don't call the cable company on it when things aren't working well.  The phone dies if you have to reboot the modem.

I have everything on Comcast. TV, phone and internet and it cost $158.00 a month. I have a lot of trouble with my TV and I'm not happy with the service people they send out to fix the TV.

Time Warner Cable, although they have been sold to...wait...let me think...oh, yeah, Charter.  It will shortly be called "Spectrum," undoubtedly with the same old issues and high prices, just a new name.

I have Comcast for both my cable TV and internet service. The cable TV is so expensive...I am really leery about giving up a landline. I live alone and when it is bad weather the power has been known to go out. It was so bad at one point, that I got camping lanterns for the apartment. It has improved, but you never know about those coastal storms. The trees need to be cut back again from the power lines.

Have the entire package with Comcast would be less than what I am paying now, but I kind of have a bad feeling about one company having so much power over me.

I am thinking about cutting back on the service I have for the extra TV in my bedroom, since I rarely watch it.
