Someone was telling me thats what it is. At this point im at a lost and going crazy the vet knows what happen to the other kittens and told me fip is what they probably die of. i will info him that this new one just died too as for calypso im bringing him back to the vet he has a light pink fluid coming out of his incision and hes back to not really eating ive tried his wet food canned chicken canned tuna baby food. He'll eat some of his treats but thats it.

Why did the vet come to the conclusion that the other kittens had FIP? Did their bellies suddenly fill with fluid? Was a necropsy (autopsy) done on any of them?

You might want to consider getting a second opinion for Calypso. (Never a bad idea, especially when dealing with a possible fatal condition.)

FIP itself is not contagious; however, the Coronavirus that leads to FIP is.

If the kittens became ill quickly and died within a matter of days they would have had to have the wet form of FIP which causes the body cavity to fill with fluid. (The kittens would have bloated bellies and go into respiratory distress as a result of fluid collecting in and around the lungs.)

The sudden onset of vomiting and diarrhea make me more inclined to think PanLeuk. There is a test for it. You use only a drop or two of blood (serum to be exact, I think). It is the same test used to detect Parvo in puppies and looks very much like a FIV/FeLV combo test.

The kittens didn't die within a matter of days once they started to show signs they would die within 24 hours butt my 2 8 week old kittens that got it died within hours of showing signs but it took the younger kittens 24 hours to die from it none of them had expanded bellies or bloated bellies calypso hasn't been throwing up but he does have diarrhea I'm unsure if they've been tested for feline leukemia um maybe Calypso has I don't know how to read his blood work above what I posted also i dont know if they tested him for panleuk. I also took him to the vet today they gave him a shot of antibiotic that supposed to last up to 14 days they also gave him a shot of morphine and sent me home with two days of pain meds they kept saying cats are good hiders of pain but then didn't want to send me home with pain meds I said doesn't he need to come home with pain meds they said he's not in pain I said how do you know he's not in pain so you said cats hide their pain so I made them send me home with pain meds. Like come on he just had invasive surgery how are you going to tell me my cat is not in pain like come on they wont send you home from the hospital without pain medicine or antibiotics why would you send an animal home they're living thing to

Ok, I forgot that you posted his BW. Yes, he has been tested for FeLeuk and is negative.

Unless the kittens/Calypso is getting into or eating something poisonous, I would be awfully suspicious of PanLeuk.

I would get Calypso and the other kitten tested for this ASAP.

I had to rush calypso back to his vet because to me it looked like his intestines were hanging out of his sutures. The vet at first argued with me and told me that there's no way but I made him go to the vet's office so he can look at it he told me it was a blister something that it wasn't his intestines and they're keeping him they're going to do surgery and he should be able to come home Monday i took a photo of it if your interested in seeing what i seen im so upset i dont know what to do anymore

Yes, I'd love (not the best word) to see a pic. You can post it in this thread of send it to me in a PM.

I'm sorry you and Calypso are having such a difficult time! I really think you need a second opinion.

It's possible that Calypso has developed a hernia or an infection at the incision. This would certainly make him not want to eat (especially if he has something else going on with him.)

I still highly suggest the other kitten be tested for PanLeuk. I'd take this kitten to a different vet than where Calypso is being treated. Explain how the other kittens got sick and decline very quickly.

I cant believe they didn't give him any antibiotics after a major surgery like that. To cut open his intestines and abdominal wall then not treat for the bacteria that would be released into his body from doing so. That right there is a whole new level of 'I don't give a **** about your cat' not even mentioning the other behaviors they've exhibited. Where are you located, do you have an actual veterinary hospital around?

I looked at your test results, your not in a good area for veterinary care. Everyone calls themselves a 'hospital' even when they don't have full diagnostic capabilities or specialized vets. I'm sorry this is happening to you. I know it must be very frustrating.

Sweetie, I was going to suggest taking Calypso for a second opinion.

If you are able to, I would not think twice about doing it.

To me, it seems as if this vet is not a very good one, nor does he care about providing optimum care.

He needs antibiotics AND a painkiller when he is released...seriously.. Please insist on it. AND NOT METACAM....that one is harsh on kidneys.

I forget the name of the good one, but others will chime in. Also get some bufamorphine. (spelling)

It is best to give in a syringe, and you place a few drops in the side of the mouth cheek..not in the mouth.

Are there any VCA hospitals around? They are pretty good. Are there any emergency vet services around?  Is there even a large Veterinary school near you? They have good care.
Can you google local Vets and see the reviews? I really do feel that Calypso needs some specialized help at this point.

If you do find another Vet, please be sure to bring his records with you.

I am wishing you the best..and sending ((hugs)) to both you and Calypso.

I know you are limited in Vets, but please try. If you mention your location, there are a lot of members here who can help you find a good Vet.

I honestly do not know what else you can do. Your hands are kind of tied..this Vet is doing that to you and Calypso.. He has written Calypso "off", with his cavalier approach to medicine.

((((Hugs))))

I do not want to scare you, but at this time, it is almost a case of life or death.. I know you are aware of this; otherwise, you would not be as scared as you are..

((((hugs))))

What the picture is showing is very serious!! You need to get that attended to ASAP!

I would keep it covered with some saline and a sterile gauze. You have an EMERGENCY right now...

that is really nasty....

Please, for Calypso's sake, get to a Vet....

yes take him to another vet. That is not supposed to be like this. And make sure they do antibiotics and pain meds-buprenorphine=yes Arties mom you were correct. They may have to fix this-it shouldn't take too long but can you somehow cover this? Maybe a onsie tshirt for a baby? I would be worried about infection too. I think any vet once they see this mishap they will try to fix it. Yelp is a good place to look for other vets. sometimes reviews don't mean much but start calling around. I don't think this would take more than a half an hour to fix but he will need to be knocked out again otherwise its just too painful for him. Poor baby. THANK  YOU for SPEAKING up and asking questions! This can not heal like this. Some people I want to smack across the
 face!

This happend Saturday night i rushed him to the vet they fixed hom but he is still there my question is they gave him a antibiotic shot thats suppose to last up to 14 days would he be able to take any other antibiotics or would that be to much antibiotics for him? They also have ne 2 days worth of pain meds called buprenorphine when i go and get him today ill ask for some more pain meds. Hes not eating i dont know if they gave him any of the pills that make him eat but they said he wants nothing to do with food but hes drinking alot of water they are going to force feed him and then when he comes home I'll see if he'll eat after taking the pills and if he doesn't then I'll have to force-feed him.
