Hi fellow cat lovers.

So, after 1.5 weeks of headaches and heartaches (story can be read here: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/320957/my-cat-has-urinary-blockage-obstruction), Prince had a successful p/u surgery on Tuesday 6/21/16. My vet told me I was able to pick him up yesterday (Wed), but I'm opting to keep him there for a few days and pick him up on Friday. I'm hoping the extra few days will help since he will not be able to move a lot in his cubby, therefore less chance of harming/disturbing his fresh wound. This decision is bothering me because my vet thinks it's better to get him home soon so he can be in a less stressful environment and start the healing process (which I agree), but I know he will get overly excited and I think he needs to be calm, especially the first few days. With that said, I feel super guilty leaving him there longer than he has to be...

I would love to get some advice from anyone who has dealt with post P/U surgeries. What are some things I can expect? My house is full of carpet, and the only places without carpet is the kitchen and bathroom. My vet also advised against him jumping the first two weeks, but we have a lot of counters/tables that we cannot move. What have you guys tried that were successful? My solution is to watch him 24/7 taking shifts with my sister.

I am so grateful as this community of cat lovers has helped me through the last 1.5 weeks. Any advise is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!!

I would consider getting one of the large wire dog kennels for him to stay in for awhile.  I would put it somewhere where he can be around people and bring him out a little every day to give him some time out and about.  That would also make it possible to more closely monitor how he is doing in the litter box.

Thats a great idea, but would prefer not to spend anymore than I have to. The past 2 weeks have cost my husband and I around $14,XXX.

However, I do have one about this size:

I hope this will work. But we are planning to have at least one person be with him at all times.

Wish us luck :)

Just make sure the crate is large enough to accommodate a size-appropriate little box, bed/blanket and food/water bowls (I think crate bowls will still attach to the door of the crate you pictured.)
