I have had a cat very near all my life, I had 2 female Persians, but lost the one a couple of months ago due to heart failure. We have now got a Maine coon on its way, so my cat has a play mate and companion, and the breeder uses different food, I have researched many foods and my head is literally hurting, there are so many with good and bad reviews. We spoke to someone who suggested using attu cat food, as it's supposed to be very good food. Has anyone heard of it, used it? I am a momma who loves her animals very much and I just need to know if this is a good food, I will be so thankful to anyone who reply's.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have 2 Persians as well as a DSH. I'd rather lose a limb than one of them.

I'm in the US and have never heard of this brand so I had to Google it. From what I found, I'm guessing that you are in the UK? Is this it? It's spelled differently than your post.

I wish I could give you an opinion on this but I cannot.
I can however tag in 2 members from the UK who might be able to help @MServant  @Columbine

:wavey: You called?

Yes, I actually feed Aatu myself - it's my girl's all time favourite kibble :yummy: It's a decent kibble, though it is rather expensive. You don't HAVE to spend that much to get a good quality kibble. For what it's worth, the other kibble brands I feed are Applaws and Purizon. I really like the look of Thrive Complete kibble too, but that really is too pricey for me! Orijen is another good one, but I prefer to feed British (or at least European) brands where possible. That's just my personal preference though :)

I would suggest, though, that you feed some wet food as well. An all dry diet isn't ideal for any cat ;) I can gladly give you some wet food suggestions too if you'd like :D [article="32765"][/article][article="29646"][/article][article="29707"][/article][article="31089"][/article][article="0"][/article][article="31127"][/article][article="30756"][/article]

I'm so sorry for your loss :hugs:

Thank you for your quick replys, you are right I am British, but we moved to Southern Ireland. I have been using royal canin with my cats for years the dry food, we used to use Persian special, then we had to change to a weight management one as they are house cats. Persians as I suppose all cats are, are really fussy! I tried wet food when they were kittens and no luck! Now I have heard that dry food all the time can harm their teeth, is this true? I'm also looking for an all round vitamin to help their immune systems etc.. After my Lily dying, I just want to try anything that can aid them in their life.
Thank you all for your sympathys.

It's not that dry food in itself is harmful for their teeth, more that it was said for years (and still is, in some quarters) that dry food was actually good for cleaning cats' teeth. We now know this to be false - it's pretty much the same logic as saying that biscuits will clean our teeth! This article explains it, if you're interested:-[article="30205"][/article]

I don't recommend adding a broad spectrum supplement if you're feeding a complete food at the appropriate levels. Over supplementation can actually do more harm than good, so it certainly isn't something to be taken lightly. I do strongly suggest that you experiment with adding in a some wet food again. There are so, so many good options out there these days that I'm sure, with a little patience, you'll find some they both like. With any luck, your Maine Coon won't be a fussy eater, so he can eat up any foods your Persian rejects. This is exactly how I found healthy foods that my fussy boy enjoyed...even if it does mean my girl has a mini mountain of food to get through now :lol3:

If it helps, this is a list of foods on my current rotation:-

Grau
GranataPet
Catz Finefood (they also have a range called Purr that is limited ingredient/novel protein)
Bozita tetrapacks (in jelly or sauce - both grain free). Great budget option.
Animonda Carny
Feringa
Terra Faelis (low phosphorus)
Thrive Complete

These are all available at Zooplus

My guys also like Nature's Menu (online and from various retailers); Wainwrights (Pets at Home own label); Purely Holistic; Hi Life Tempt Me.

Just giving you a few options/ideas :winkblue: This article may be interesting too[article="31138"][/article]
