I only took the required english classes and sometimes read too fast and missed important facts. I always been reading. Not much for writing other than something I know about. emotions I know plenty about. They drive me insane because they are not facts but their feelings inside our hearts and minds are so deeply felt that its hard to tell it apart from facts., just a little diddy i wrote in response to your earlier poem. I think you are a really good writer.

Write a poem about your new guy and that special kitty who visits you

Thank you!  Ha,ha,ha, I actually did write one about the little calico.

As far as the new guy.........well, unfortunately not so much anymore.
I guess it was a nice two months +. We just discovered we had some many major differences as far as it preventing anything long term, so we decided better sooner than later, & hurt much worse than being months in. So we are still friends of course. He's a really nice guy. Basically, I am a christian, & he is an atheist. Something I've never encountered before. He told me the first time we hung out, but I didn't want to judge him. (the thing it seems most Christians do a lot of, & should be the last ones to) & I still really liked who he was as a person, so I just decided to stay with it, & see how it went.

I am not really religious so to speak, when I went to church it was a non denominational mega church, contemporary music, etc.. and do consider myself a christian, as that's how I was raised, believe that etc.. BUT,

I would say I'm more open, & spiritual. So, even in that regard, we just didn't match, & knew that it would always come up in the future, if we ended up in a long term relationship.

His birthday was the 30Th, but I haven't seen him since I've been sick. We "talked" a week ago this past Tuesday. That's the last time I saw him, but he's been texting me, asking how I'm feeling since I was sick.

I have a birthday gift for him, so as soon as I feel better, I want to make him dinner & give him his gift for his birthday.

(Also, the night he was over, I had come out of the bathroom, & he said "someone" was in the kitchen. I turned around, & little miss calico was there. She was outside, & he had let her in. She ate, hung out for a few sniffing his kitties on his shoes, it was funny, she had her whole head inside his shoe at one time. Silly girl,  then left.
)

So, that's why I said I had written a few poems in that one weekend!

ok, here's the one about the little calico.

(OH, I caught a typo in my poem above "Mental commotion." in the first part, after "Wish I just....... should be, HAD a notion", not have a notion.)

My little Calico Friend

My little Angel in heaven
Sent you to me,
To check on his mommy,
And give me some company.
He knew I missed him dearly,
But for another kitty, the time was not right.
Your visits although random always bring
My heart some light,
I look for you daily,
To know that you're alright.
I love to pick you up, and hug you tight,
Even though with your sassiness, against it you fight.
My little calico friend,
When you are hungry, you'll always be fed,
And when our visit is over,
I say good-by with a kiss upon your head.

Here's another one I wrote that weekend,

Unexpected

I had a bad dream tonight
And wished that you were here.
To wrap me up in your arms,
And wipe away the tears.
The space beside me is empty,
It no longer smells of you,
My heart is now sadened and wears a
Tearstained shade of blue.
You were an unexpected suprise,
You helped bring the laughter back into my eyes.
Just as unexpectadly, our direction changed,
My heart once again left alone, and in pain.
As much as I've been hurt so many times before,
You'd think by now, my heart would be a closed door.
But instead it was open,  open to receive,
I have so much love to give,
But love I also need.

Aww, Thanks! I've been told I should do that before.
These last two made my total of poems 179!
Not that I'd put them all in a book, but most I would.
Maybe one day I'll look into how to do that. :)

I just wandered over here from your Angel thread. Your poetry is very good.  I really liked "Unexpected". Add some music and I could see it being a song played on the radio.

OK guys, here's another one for you.    Still hoping for more people to post.

This one is one I wrote when I used to work part time at a B & B downtown. It's a beautiful big 3 story historical home.

After I gave it to the guys, they framed it & put it on the mantle in the sitting room!

The Verandas

She was built in 1854
Her stature towers above three floors
Created by a shipbuilder, she was a family home.
Then the war came, and she was left standing alone.
The nuns moved in, and a hospital she became,
For now she was home to the sick and the lame.
The street she stood upon, was then after the nuns named.
They stayed after the war was through,
And opened the first St. Mary’s School.
Since then she has been home to many more,
She even survived two fires,
Burning her almost to the core.
Once again she was left standing alone,
Until two men came and made her their home.
They worked very hard putting her back together again.
Her tattered state, they did mend.
A fine bed and breakfast she now does make,
For everyone that sees her, their breath she does take.
Now she stands tall in all her glory,
For this is the Veranda’s story.

Hello, so I wrote another one this weekend!  While waiting for more people to post,  here it is.

Something That Almost Was

I can't sleep tonight
Because I'm thinking of you,
And all the things we never got to do.
The "we" that never got to be
Just thoughts in my head,
Like faded dreams.
Our time together was so brief,
Love never has a cance, when time is a thieve.
It's hard to discribe something that almost was,
You'd think my heart wouldn't miss you,
But it does.

Kelly, I am sorry you are feeling lonely. I wish you could find someone you can connect with. Sending you healing vibes!
Aww, Thank you. I'm ok, just on a roll writing. Since I hadn't written in almost 7 years prior to this, & loosing Angel, I am just trying to take advantage of it. If just one sentience comes into my head, I write it down, & see if it goes anywhere.

I do miss having someone to spend time with, & be affectionate with, but I will meet someone when it's supposed to happen. I think I wrote that because I just saw him Saturday night. He came over & spent some time with me, because I still had his birthday gift I wanted to give him. It was just hard to hold back all the cuddly stuff. (& I really miss his kisses!)

Well, at least this last one has now brought my total number of poems up to 180!

Hi guys, As I said over on my new thread about being adopted again, here is another poem I wrote. I was looking at pictures, missing Angel on the 29th, & that's when I wrote this.

I Miss You My Angel

I miss you so much my Angel,

You were so precious and dear.

Tonight I missed you so much,

That my sadness spilled out into tears.

Wishing so badly that you were still here.

Longing once again to feel you near.

Close to my heart,

And purring in my ear.

Your kitty kisses were all so sweet,

And all the slow blinks we exchanged,

When our eyes would meet.

You were always such a good little boy,

Filling my heart everyday with such love and joy.

Love,

Mommy.

Kelly, such a sweet poem. I was crying as I was reading it. You really have a special flair for poetry. I only wish I could write something that special for my Mickey. You are truly gifted!

Hello! I have a lot of poems I can share, but for now here's something small from a doc that's currently open:

december suspended
by a thread of sudden calm:
a neighborhood awash
in evening blue
with points of light framed
by windowpane, scattered
like lanterns hovering over
an oceanic expanse
punctuated with drafts of snow
and air exhaled slow,
blossoming from warmth
of the mouth’s ribbed roof;
the clouds of white
dissipate with time’s resume.

Yay, Xavier!  That's great. Thanks for posting. It's so nice to have another poet here! I look forward to reading more!
