My sweet Cinders was sent over RB today, victim of renal failure. Sweet Princess, she was my best hunter/pest control &  through the past 14 years she helped me through the losses of a divorce, my job, a nephew, a brother, my father, 2 horses, 3 dogs and numerous cats. She had a good long  run despite a rough start in life.

In 2000, Cindy was discarded along with several other kittens and cats at the Coso Rest Area on U.S. 395. How clearly I remember her as a kitten (after the others were rescued) - a little starvling, a skinny but sleek, black mini-jaguar, looking longingly at the cottontail rabbits playing on the rest area's lawn. It took me 2 years to finally catch her, when she was so emaciated and weak that I was able to toss a towel over her & scoop her up & into a box.

Once spayed & vaccinated & rehydrated, she transformed into a loving, grateful, talkative and affectionate lap cat. As if in gratitude, she became a master simbon - effectively clearing our rural yard of snakes, rodents, scorpions, vinegaroons, and many spiders. Most of her "prizes" were generously offered to the household.

Godspeed, dear Cinder Cone - you have earned a good reward. May you find many angels to shower you with love, now that I cannot. The comfort that you gave me as we grieved together over losses past is with me still.....

Beautiful Cinders came into your life and made you richer for it. I want to thank you personally for not giving up on her until you made her a part of your family. She didn't know how good she would have it. You taught her to trust and to love, and in return she gave you her heart. It sounds like she tried to feed you too, with all of her conquests in the jungle of her yard, they all think we are hopeless hunters and try their hardest to show us what to do. She wouldn't give up trying to share with you! When they go it leaves such a void in our homes and our lives that it will never seem the same, until the time comes that we realize they have never left us at all, the bond we have formed joins our heart and soul together in such a way as to keep the love alive, even though we are separated, they will always be a part of us as long as we are alive to celebrate what they brought to us while we were together. She brought much to you, each 'catch' was an offering of love. her way of showing you what you meant to her. She has left your life, but will never leave your loving heart. I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers, may your precious memories comfort you in the years to come. Take care.......RIP beautiful Cinders, may the hunting at the Rainbow Bridge be bountiful, your bright, shining star will blaze across the skies as you send down your love to the one who loves and misses you so very much!

I'm so sorry about your dear Cinders.  She did have a rough start and I'm sure she was all the more grateful to you for rescuing her.  I lost my Gracie last July.  She was estimated to be 14 also.  Your tribute to Cinders was very touching, especially at the last: "May you find angels to shower you with love, now that I cannot."  Tears and hugs to you.

I am so sorry for your loss of Cinder.  What a blessing that she came to trust you and that both of your lives were made the better because of it.
