My kitty turned 14 this year and has started wheezing when she is sleeping. Its really weird, because I got really sick in Feb, thought I was going to die kinda sick and it seems she has been wheezing ever since then? I also have not lost the wheeze from this illness, but only at night. Coincidence maybe? Anyway, my other thought was she's extremely over weight at 28lbs. She acts healthy otherwise, plays, runs, well waddles, etc. She also had a dose of antibiotics and no change! Maybe age? I just chalked it up to she is getting old with me. It has not worsened and no other symptoms. Will you let me know if you have any ideas what this might be. Thanx!

Since your old girl hates going to the vet, you might consider calling a mobile vet, if that's an option.  I'd also take a video of her sleeping and making the wheezing sound so you can show the vet exactly what you mean.  Depending on the mobile vet, you might even be able to get some of the work done right there.
