Hi everyone. My cat has been acting weird recently. She started coughing 5 days ago but I didn't pay much attention cuz I though she might have eaten something dumb.

However she keeps coughing every day for about half to a full minute. This usually happens when he coughs. It has been 2 days since I've noticed his eye pupils have become larger than they usually are.

Just a moment ago he acted really weird. He was lying on his side on the floor and meowing really loudly like i've never heard him meow before. This happened after I gave him food and lasted for about 3 seconds. I'm really worried about him and I keep crying every day, cause my mom isn't here and I can't take him to the vet without her giving me money. I don't want to lose him cause I've already lost a cat before and it really tore me apart.

It really sounds like your kitty needs to see a vet. Is there anyone else (another family member) that can give you money? Or do you have access to a bank account my mom can transfer money to?

That's really nice of you but I don't think I can accept money from someone else. Anyways my cat doesn't seem to be coughing anymore and his pupils are back to normal again, I think. My mom comes this saturday anyways and I'll get him to a vet. Thanks for the help ^^.

I'm so sorry, I meant to say YOUR mom could transfer money to. Believe me, if I could afford it though, I'd help anyone whose pet needed to go to the vet.

I'm glad to hear that he is doing better and that you'll be able to get him to the vet soon.

check out the site fritz the brave its about asthma kitties. watch the videos and see if this looks similar. does anyone smoke in the house? any new fragrance type things lately? I recommend that the litter is unscented. never add perfumes. their sense of smell is so much stronger. we know how uncomfortable it is to be near someone who bathes in cologne. image your poor kitty.

what time of the day is the coughing?

asthma is something more kitties are coming down with. I have an asthma kitty. the pollen lately has been really bad.

if there is another coughing episode I really recommend a vet visit.

they will listen to the lungs and see if you can video tape the coughing to show the vet. there are things we can do to treat asthma.

first off if you have access to a drug store=there are a couple of over the counter things you can try but first you need to see the vet. I don't like giving medical advice for what works for my cat until you have gone to the vets.

they will need xrays to see the lungs. asthma looks like donuts or tram lines on xrays. some vets use bloodwork but I find it inconclusive. sometimes eosinophil's will be elevated for asthma which  get more populated with inflammation with asthma.

Take a peak at fritz the brave or youtube videos for asthma kitty coughing to see if it is similar.

coughing in dogs usually can mean cardiac or cold virus issue or asthma but usually cardiac issues in a cat don't result in coughing but I would definitely rule this out.

treatment for asthma is easy but you need a script to get the meds.

there are tons of tips online if it comes to this. but tell your mom coughing is serious and if we don't treat it then it could cause complications down the road. and once this happens there is no turning back, sadly other kitties didn't get the required treatment in a timely manner=I am talking weeks and months. you could wait until next week IF no more coughing. if daily coughing for a minute-then a vet is NEEDED, keep an eye on the color of the tongue and gums. make sure they are nice and pink. not tryin to scare you but this needs attention in the next couple days.
