The cushion thing is normal. My cat is 7 years old and he much prefers hard surfaces. Silly boy.

As for the rubber piece, have your vet decided on an X-ray? It could show if something is still lodged in his stomach.

Did you decide on a second opinion? Would be wonderful to have another vet validate that aşkım is all clear.

Aw, thank you!! We have been doing great! We slept together last night, I checked on him at every little mrr or mew, but we spent this day safe, I hope he never faces it again.
This is the last picture I took, he loves to chase that pink ribbon and sometimes get wrapped around it.. Aw melts my heart..

Well, she said that if vomiting occurs again, she will perform a blood test and X-ray. I am unsure what to do actually, since he acts fine, I am just watching him and loving him to make him feel safe, but if any time I see anything abnormal, it will be the first thing I will do to see the vet or yet another.

But, as I am new to this dry food diet, how much should I feed him? And what more can I give him to keep him well nourished?
Today I gave him just the yolk of an egg (cooked) as he loves it.
I don't want to rely solely on dry food, as he tends to get constipated every now and then.

Thank you so much! Lots of love from us..

Omgosh he is absolutely adorable!!! When you were feeding him chicken did you give it to him with the bones? Our cats love love love chicken....especially Costco chicken...but it is always with no skin and never with any bone...if you did happen to feed him chicken with bone it actually makes sense that maybe he was trying to throw it up and it scratched him...would really like to hear if you take him in for xrays to see if he has eaten anything bizarre...be blessed and your doing a great job with him...[emoji]128518[/emoji][emoji]128008[/emoji][emoji]128049[/emoji]

Noo, never! I boil the chicken and once it cools, I carefully take the bones to give to my dog, I have always feared him eat some and get hurt. But something happened and I can not know what, I hope he never deals with it again, so much thanks from us, I also think that he is so adorable.. Totally stole my heart, God bless him.
Thank you sooo much..

I don't know whether I should be awaiting or not but for now, if everything goes like this, I don't plan to but I do still fear for him. I am still a little bit upset, time will lead me though I think.

Great news that he's keeping down his food!   I was worried about him - the photo of the blood is disconcerting to put it mildly.  About his food - it's terrific that he's eating, but have you considered giving him canned food?   A lot of people prefer canned or raw because it keeps cats better hydrated and is thought to be associated with a reduced number of urinary tract infections and blockages.  Just something to consider.  The main thing for now is that he's eating and keeping it down.  You may never know what was behind this - fingers crossed it doesn't happen again!

I love the photo of him with his ribbon.  He's such a handsome lad!

Ohh thanks a billion!
Actually, I was going to buy both canned and dry when I was at the supermarket but somehow I managed to forget the canned one somewhere.
When I got back home, first tried to feed him the dry one and he refused it. Being frustrated enough I searched for the can and realized that I didn't even bought it. I will definitely give it a try as I want the best I can do for him.
This is a veeery hot morning around here and he chases me around the house indefinitely! I'm in love..

so glad to hear things seem better!  no more vomiting, and, especially, no more vomiting blood!  i can't get out here every day, but have been thinking about your kitty, and hoping he was okay.

the thing about the rubber gloves is interesting.  it's good to hear you put them, and plastic bags, where they are out of reach.  (i think most people never even consider that a cat would eat a plastic bag.)  can you look at the gloves and tell if any "pieces" are missing??

as of now, that's my guess--that he DID eat something he shouldn't have, whether part of the rubber gloves or something else.  if so, it would seem that it's moved along the digestive tract at least enough so that it doesn't cause vomiting.  if he ate something, you MIGHT see it in his stool.  of course, you might not--it could be small enough that you wouldn't notice it.

since it's been a few days now, i think he's probably fine, but it's good that you're keeping an eye on him!

as for food--i'd definitely feed him at least some high-quality canned food.  (unless a vet says "no," due to health considerations, which he doesn't have now.)  if he gets treats, give him an extra one from all of us here that he managed to freak out a bit!

Hello again! Nice to see your comment, thanks a bunch!

He seems very active and happy and that is literally the best thing to me! I am amazed and relieved..

But now I have yet another concern. To this day, I thought Whiskas was the best brand to feed a kitty, oh how wrong had I been.
Now, for a week, I fed him Whiskas Junior, then made a quick search and felt so guilty about it.
I want to determine a diet of both premade and homemade good quality food and I am confused about how to proceed.

As for now, I give him one cooked egg yolk and some feta cheese (almost the same size as the yolk) and the dry food daily. And every once in awhile some diluted milk as he loves it.
I think I will consider adding chicken little by little, if I see no vomiting,I will make it a part of the plan.
Wish me luck and please give me a ton of advice! I really love him to the moon and back and want to spend maaany more years with him.
Thanks..

I feed Chula and Paul Fancy Feast canned food.  The pates are actually pretty good for the price.  Having said that, I used to feed my previous cats Friskies (which is cheaper) canned and they all lived well into their senior years.  If you really want to get some good feedback on nutritional issues, start a thread in the Nutrition forum - there are some very knowledgeable people here about feline nutrition but unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

Again, it's so great to hear that Shadow is feeling so much better!

Well, I actually have started one, about whiskas, but now I am sure that it is no way beneficial for my loved one.
So, whatever the cost may be, I am switching to something more beneficial and reliable. And in my case it will be Purina I suppose.
I hope to make better choices and learn a lot from here. Thanks a million!

i did kinda cringe when i read "whiskas" in your post.  but, honestly, i don't know enough either.  many years ago, when i first got "my own" cats, the vet said the best food for them was dry--either Iams or Science Diet.  both, at that time, were premium foods that could only be purchased from a vet clinic.  i honestly don't remember which one it was, but i fed them that, faithfully.  when iams (must have been that one) became available in grocery stores, i stopped buying it and...switched to Science Diet.  i had 3 kittens--one small litter.  2 of them developed kidney disease; the boy had stopped eating long enough to develop 'fatty liver disease.'  the surgery to put in a feeding tube killed him.  because i don't know WHY he'd stopped eating, it's possible that he also had developed kidney disease.

years later, i read that cats shouldn't eat hard food, or shouldn't eat only hard food.  i read that it could give them kidney problems.  and i think--maybe my choice killed them.  but i did what i thought an expert had recommended.  i'm writing this to let you know that it may not be possible to "pick the right food."  at least now, with the internet and so much information available and so many people sharing info and experiences, we might make a better guess.

Whiskas is made by the Mars company.  a large corporation with a great many brands and products.  including Iams.  i'd instantly think, "yes, all their products are garbage."  except....the product list includes eukanuba and Royal Canin.  btw, Mars does NOT make eukanuba and Iams for europe, which is very interesting, and my guess is it's related to the fact that GM ingredients aren't allowed in europe.  anyway, my new vet wants me to get my little girl on a Royal Canin prescription food.  now i'm REALLY wondering about that.

a lot of people (online, and a couple vets i know) say that Fancy Feast canned is "okay."  that's made by Purina.  interestingly, Purina also makes Friskies.  i used to buy FF, but then realized Friskies is made by the same company and SEEMS to be nearly the same.  and costs less.  now i buy some of both, hoping she'll eat SOMETHING.

but...the other forum is going to be your best bet.  i was researching cat food last fall, and had found a site...let me see if i can find the info i saved somewhere...

here--this woman seemed to know her stuff.  i read a LOT last fall, and was going to order/buy the list she puts together every year.  but it was, like, end of November and i thought i'd wait and pay for the 2016 list.  (it's not much--i think it was $10-15.  and it helps her continue her unpaid work of finding out what's going into pet food.)

http://catinfo.org/

and now i see i was on the Nutrition forum of this site last fall, too, lol.  i marked this thread on Mauri food.  (Blue ate it, but wasn't ga-ga thrilled.  her favs seemed to be the kangaroo and the venison.)  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/290196/mauri-canned-food

also, here's a list of foods cats shouldn't eat.  take it with a grain of salt--you know your cat best.  by which i mean, it says no dairy but you give him some dairy and he seems fine with it.  [if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:DoNotOptimizeForBrowser/> </w:WordDocument></xml><![endif]http://pets.webmd.com/cats/ss/slideshow-foods-your-cat-should-never-eat

you're a great pet mom!

I am so inexplicably sorry for your cats, if I had just one wish it would be living with him forever.
I am getting paranoid and nervous day by day and I have been crying all morning because as I was browsing through the net I stumbled upon a disease called FIP.
I am so anxious that my stomach turns right now. Is that possible? I am planning to bring him somewhere more professional, we have big veterinary hospitals but they are far from my home. But I will somehow make it. I am so worried I can not even express.
Now I will check the websites you mentioned, maybe they distract me a little, I really can not thank you enough..
Thank you so much..

I am in the midst of reading the feline nutrition page, it emphasizes on the importance of animal based proteins, I have 2 quails in the freezer I will boil them for him.

thank you.  it was very hard, but they, at least, didn't all 3 die at once.

please don't freak out.  i HIGHLY doubt your kitty has FIP.  if he hasn't vomited since the time you wrote, whatever it was is...either done, or likely "on its way out."  since there's been no more vomiting or other symptoms of illness, you probably don't need to rush back to a vet.  it actually turns out the vet you saw before was "right"--vomiting blood wasn't an emergency in this case.  so, you can kinda set that aside as a reason why you wouldn't go back to her.

when you had him in, did she do a general check up?  a first time check up normally includes running tests for certain feline diseases, and, where possible, administering vaccines for some diseases.  i'm not an expert, but it seems there are 3 or 4 things that you definitely would want a vaccine for.  rabies being one.  and...i can't remember if your kitty is neutered.  that's something else to plan on and discuss at his next appointment.

you're doing fine!  you could feed him Whiskas for a few months and he'd probably be fine.  i call Fancy Feast "kitty cheetos" although apparently it's not as bad as that.  the point being, we can only do what we can do.  you are trying your best, and that right there is so much more than...a lot of people would, or could, do.  any decisions you make are coming from a place of love, and effort at doing what's best for your little ones.

i will say--researching pet food can be overwhelming.  and confusing.  and exhausting.  and frustrating.  because...dammit, just don't put garbage in their food, people!  for that matter, don't put garbage in OUR food either!

yes, cats need animal protein as the main part of their diet.  you're doing fine.  i think eggs must certainly count as animal protein.  so does milk and cheese, and since he's not having a lactose-reaction to that, it's okay to keep giving him a bit.

where are you?  are you in australia?  (not sure why i'm thinking that.)  the Mauri cat food is from australia, and, as far as i know, that gets pretty high marks.

you're going to be okay.  your little boy is going to be okay.  remember--you love him.  and he loves you.

He was so tiny when I had him, found him backyard alone and helpless. I think he was approximately 1.5 weeks old. He is not neutered.
So you think he may be fip? I am heartbroken. How come? Why? What can I do about it? I am desperate.
