Who else is watching? Tonight promises to be one of the most epic episodes ever, in a season filled with incredible episodes.

Jon Snow on a collision course with Ramsay Bolton...craziness!

Arya Stark returning to Westeros to exact vengeance on all the Freys, Lannisters and Cleganes she can get her hands on...craziness!

Daenerys Targaryen returning to Meereen atop her dragon just as the battle begins...insanity!

No offense to Sam, Gilly, Bran, Meera, Tommen or any of the others, but I hope tonight we get to spend a lot of time with the above-mentioned characters instead of ricocheting between plotlines and locations every 5 minutes like the show usually does.

Okay, so now that it's aired, let's just say there has never been anything like last night's episode on television, ever.

I mean, they must have spent $25 million on that episode alone! The war scenes were like Gladiator, the dragons were INSANE and the episode itself was incredibly satisfying. I won't get into spoilers for the sake of anyone who has it on DVR, but wow.

If anyone here has not watched Game of Thrones, you guys don't know what you're missing. I know there's been a lot of hype around GoT for the last two or three years, but it's deserved hype -- the show had a relatively small audience in the beginning and kept building and building its audience through sheer audacity and the strength of its amazing story, and now...well, now it's just on another level.

I'm one that has never watched it and have no interest. My nieces though are obsessed. One of the and her fiance even do a podcast about it.

DH used to watch it. I've seen a few episodes but none since he passed. It didn't do anything for me. DD read all the books and is not happy that the series is now ahead of the books and they are doing whatever they want. We no longer have cable so she's not watching anymore either obviously.

I get that, but the last book came out in 2011, and the one before that came out in 2005. It's taking George R.R. Martin forever to finish the books.

He's on his third decade still writing and struggling to finish the books. HBO is not going to shut down production on the show, let the actors' contracts expire, let the child actors age out of their roles, and give up a cash cow cultural phenomenon on the vague promise that George R.R. Martin will finish the books some time before 2030.

Anyway, the showrunners have direct access to Martin and have been working with him since 2008. They are the only other people in the world who know how the story ends, and the fates of the characters.

So I would say they're not so much doing what they want, they're undertaking the difficult task of finishing a series when the source material isn't finished yet. It's even more amazing given the incredible production values...there has literally never been anything like this on TV, ever. Sunday's episode put most major Hollywood blockbusters to shame, that's how incredible it was.

In any case, GRRM and HBO inked the deal for the show in 2007 IIRC...so Martin has had almost a decade to make sure he finished the series before the show, but he hasn't come through. Honestly, I don't think he will ever finish the books.
