I don't have a favorite. I love them all, homemade. Lemon Bars, Berry Bars, Toffee Bars, Almond Crescents, Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter. Not crazy about sugar cookies, and I haven't found an oatmeal cookie recipe yet that I really like.
mmmm......lemon bars and berry bars!

my favorite oatmeal cookies are peanut butter oatmeal cookies. there have been times that i've baked a batch of those and just had a bunch of them for my dinner!

i love cookies and baking them, but recently i find i prefer to bake them 'in a pan' style, where you spread the dough out on a baking sheet and bake them then cut them into cookies -- square/rectangular shaped. i don't have much patience any more to just stand around waiting for several oven-fuls of cookies to bake......getting older, i guess.

I have an extreme soft spot for Loft House cookies. I've loved them since childhood and when I have a bad day they're my go to comfort food! :)

White Chocolate and Macadamia Nut. Which is contradicting, as I don't like white chocolate or nuts, but together it is quite pleasant and smooth. And I like the chewyness!

And Toffee Cookies and Chocolate Chip Cookies. But they have to be chewy. I don't like crunchy or crumbly. Bakery quality type of chewy; don't get them in packages as they are either stiff or not a very nice version of chewy.

I also like Snickerdoodles, Shortbread and Sugar Cookies. Cinnamon and Ginger also, but they have to be the chewy type. As usual
 I'm so prejudice.

Least favourite: Raisin Oatmeal
or any others that have oatmeal or fruit in it. Or other types of nuts. And at the risk of getting a sniper shot to the head - vegan cookies.
you know, i've never had toffee cookies, or snickerdoodles. i feel like i've missed something very important......and very tasty!

i think i can understand that! the 'chewy' type cookies in packages are an artificially produced and/or maintained (after they're produced) kind of chewy, very different from homemade and bakery quality type of chewy.

sugar cookies, ginger cookies -- yum!

Waaaaay too many to list, lol.

But if we go simple, oatmeal raisin, home-made
ahhh, homemade oatmeal raisin!
do you like them chewy or more crisp? i like my oatmeal raisin cookies crisp around the edges, but more chewy near their centers.

These Christmas cookies my mom used to make with a super shooter cookie press. They were kind of like sugar cookies but slightly savory, I think there was cream cheese in the batter or maybe sour cream.
She doesn't remember anymore. But man I would jump through flaming hoops for one of those cookies.
oh my! those sound very tasty!

Are you talking about spritz cookies? I have a recipe for spritz that we make every year around the holidays. It calls for 3 ounces of cream cheese.
I think they might be them. My mom used a recipe from the cookie shooter booklet I believe. Does that sound like it may be them? If it does I would love the recipe please.

Mine came from Betty Crocker; it's an oldie-but-goodie.

Here you go:

LEMON-CHEESE PRESSED COOKIES – a tried and true Betty Crocker recipe

1 cup butter, softened

3 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon lemon rind, grated

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2-1/2 cups flour, all purpose

1 teaspoon baking powder

Cream butter, cheese, and sugar until fluffy.

Blend in remaining ingredients.

Cover and chill.

Press out cookies on un-greased baking sheet.

Sprinkle with colored sugars, teaberries, or little cinnamon hearts..

Bake at 375 F 7-8 minutes. You do not want them to brown.

My Notes: You can tint the cookie dough red or green for Christmas, green for St. Patrick’s Day, etc. You can omit the lemon rind and juice; I usually do. Chill the dough well. You might want to chill your cookie sheets, too.

To make chocolate pressed cookies, simply omit the lemon rind and juice and add two squares of unsweetened chocolate (melted and cooled).

They freeze well.
i love when things work out like this!  you're so nice, Pam!

Plain old sugar cookies.  All the better if they are hand-decorated.   I even do a killer pork loin with a sugar-cookie crust (not JUST sugar cookies, but they are the main ingredient.  I serve it with a raspberry sauce, or on sandwiches with raspberry preserves.
sugar cookies are awesome!

pork loin with a sugar-cookie crust...served with raspberry sauce......

My favorite cookies are iced sugar (or butter)  cookies that are from a recipe handed down from my mother so I can really relate to both of these answers!  She would make them for Christmas and each one was a work of art, though it took me growing up to recognize how much time went into each one.  Yum, they were so incredibly good!   Also, the cookie dough was positively scrumptious and I spent time in my room more than once for making raids on the fridge where the dough sat chilling.
mmmm......those sound like they'd be incredibly tasty!

Homemade chocolate chip cookies with walnuts!

As for store bought.. reeses peanut butter cup oreos and fudge striped short bread cookies. I also enjoy the pepperidge farm milano ones. The candy cane milano cookies with chocolate around Christmas are to die for too!
i would not have thought to add walnuts to chocolate chip cookies!
once i have more carob chips, i'll have to make some carob chip cookies with chopped walnuts in them.

ooooo, i loved those fudge striped shortbread cookies when i was a kid!

If I had to pick one or the other, I'd say chewy. But I like the way you described too

You can add any type of nut to chocolate chip and other cookies
Pecans are particularily good

My mom's cookies.. I miss them, I have the recipes, but they are just not the same.
My Mom made cookies but hardly anything fun like chocolate chip or anything unless we needed them for a class party or something
The one cookie she made every December to give as gifts for co-workers was called almond cookie but it didn't have any almond it in except for almond extract which was usually the imitation kind. The cookies were not healthy at all.... the recipie calls for an entire pound of lard (real pork lard, not the Crisco stuff)
I'm not sure if Mom ever gave the cookies to vegetarians / vegans or disclosed that the cookies contained pork lard.

Cookies
I like most kind of cookies. I prefer home made or independent bakery made cookies to store-bought. I do buy Keebler and Pepperidge Farm cookies and some brands found in the organic / natural aisle on occasion. There's a great local small chain bakery that makes the best cookies and baked good along with cafe-type items like sandwiches and soups. One location is right at street level of one of the buildings for the company I work at
Definitely a go-to place for a mid afternoon snack (and mini splurge) when the line isn't out the door long.
that's one of the few things i miss about living in a city! those special bakeries you can sometimes find.

mmmm......pepperidge farm cookies! and keebler also makes some very tasty cookies!

I like most cookies except ginger snaps. Chocolate chip and peanut butter would be my favourites.

For store bought President's Choice Decadent Chocolate Chip cookies are pretty good.
oh, ginger snaps! sorry, but i love those.

ahhh, peanut butter cookies!
i was just thinking about oatmeal peanut butter cookies earlier today. i may have to bake a batch of those soon. and looking at the forecast, next week looks like there may be a couple days that would be cool enough to do some baking!

I like Ginger Snaps but I have never been able to get the texture right, they don't have the 'snap'.  They taste good but they are like a chewy spice cookie.

Oatmeal raisin with some chocolate chips mixed in.   I've also made a cranberry/white chocolate chip version that they print on the bags of craisins. Those were really good!

I used to make chocolate chip with half chocolate chips and half butterscotch chips.  The boys at church went nuts for them.
yummy choice!

it's great that you'll mix in or 'mix it up' a bit, when making your cookies!
i tend to just go with the recipes that i find for cookies. i really like the idea of cookies with two different kinds of chips in them! i love butterscotch chips, but they can be a bit...much at times. so maybe i'll try a batch of carob chip cookies, using half carob chips and half butterscotch chips.

ooooo, i love dried cranberries!

when you say 'they don't have the snap', are you meaning the spicy-gingery snap, or the crispiness?

i'll tell you, there's only one website i thought to look at when i read your reply -- the Smitten Kitchen website. everything i've ever made using a smitten kitchen recipe has come out incredibly, decadently tasty.

now the smitten kitchen gingersnaps recipe -- http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2011/11/gingersnaps/   has ground white pepper as one of it's ingredients. and they're 'buttery crisp at the perimeter, tentatively approaching tender and chewy towards the center, but not committing to it.'    mmmm, mmmm, mmmmm!

I am not tempted too much by cookies, (chips and ice cream are another story
),  but on the occasion I am, I love the Peanutbutter kiss cookies and I do like shortbread!  Walker's shortbread with chocolate chips!  Walker's shortbread is the best!

are those the ones that are like bars, with condensed milk in the recipe? i've never tried them, but WOW! do they look good!
Yes, that's them. No mix recipe; you just layer it in the pan and bake. It has both chocolate and butterscotch chips and coconut in them. They are the richest cookie I've ever eaten, like a candy bar. Just one is plenty. If you want a recipe, google it. There are quite a few recipes on the 'Net.
