Curious about TCS's time

Hi

I'm new here and enjoying the great info and friendly cat community :-)

I've been noticing on my profile page the time references are 5 hours ahead of us here in the eastern US.

Is TCS based in the UK? Ireland?

Or maybe I looked at that wrong.....

Hi and welcome to TCS!  We're an international site but the site's owner, @Anne lives in Israel.  That doesn't answer your question about time, however, since Israel is 7 hours ahead of the eastern US.  The times I see show up on my page are actually those of the eastern US so I'm not sure what the five hour difference you're seeing means.  If it were four, I'd think it meant GMT but I don't know what to make of five. 

The site is hosted in the US. Our platform and hosting are managed by Wikia.com and they reside in California. I think the server time is what you're seeing and I believe it's set according to where the majority of members live (which is probably the US East Coast).

If you go into your profile and select "Edit account details" and then select "my info" from the menu that goes down the left-hand side, you can select your own time zone so the posts show the correct time for you.

If you need screen shots to explain that better, just let me know.

Yes, I was looking at the "last logged on" time and thought it was referring to my previous visit, which was where I got the 5 hour difference. Then I realized it was about my current visit where it's a 3 hour difference.

Ah, curiosity.
Fortunately it hasn't killed me yet.

I appreciated the detailed instructions about adjusting my account info for time zone. I wonder if I'm not finding those options because I'm viewing the site on a mobile phone?
I also read somewhere about changing my avatar, but have not found the options described when I go to my profile page.

It's really not critical, but since you were very sweet to offer, maybe you could advise?

I'm getting the site menu on the left with the homepage, forums, articles, and profile, etc., but that is the only menu I've been able to access. There is a button to add some info like my city and interests, but not time zone. There is not a button under my avatar pic to alter/choose another pic (as described elsewhere). The preferences menu option and profile button only let me choose to show or hide avatars, number of posts per page, and be seen or go invisible.

Thank you for any thoughts you have on this.

I found the "desktop" option, and wow.
There's everything I was looking for.

Hmmm, searching now for the "desktop" option in life.....
...... I'm sure it must be here somewhere :-)
