My kitten, who
I found abandoned at 3.5-4 weeks old and is now about 6 weeks old, shakes his head a lot. I examined his ears and they are clear. He shows no sign of ear infection. He doesn't seem in pain and he doesn't scratch his ears at all. Just the head shaking.

He has been playing normally and getting into kitten trouble and acts quite healthy except for this one quirk. .

I'm afraid to bring him into a vet, bc he hasn't been vaccinated (too young), and I don't want him exposed to illness. Are there other reasons a kitten might shake his head frequently other than illness or earmites?

Thanks for your advice!!!!

My cat Thirteen did the same thing!  After the vet checked her out and said there was no medical reason for it he suggested Zymox 1%, which worked like magic.

One of my cats had earmites as a kitten. The only sign something was wrong was the head shaking. He never scratched his ears at all.

I took him to the vet when he was 7 weeks old for a URI and told the vet about the head shaking so the vet checked his ears.

Yes, I do think his ears need checking. Something is bothering him, be it ear mites or infection. You should really see a vet.
