Hey guys,

I just got a new kitten. She's 7 weeks and 4 days old. Since i got her June 16 at 5pm, it is now june 17 10pm. I have been leaving her alone to explore and get use to the new place but she is still very scared and hasn't eating a since thing. Im worried. I have left food and a litter box but she had not eaten or used the bathroom since she's been here. What should i do?

Congratulations on your new kitten.  Can you confine her to one room?  I would be concerned about kitten proofing and kitten remembering where food, water, and litter box are at this age.

It's very important to keep a new kitten confined to a single, small room for at least a week. A bathroom, or laundry room is ideal. They are very impressionable and easily spooked at this age and will need lots of socialization to become social adult cats. Put her food, water, and litter box all in the same small room and leave her in there, even if she cries. Visit her frequently and sit in the floor with her and talk to her in a quiet voice. This time period is all about trust building between you and her. Also, she may need help understanding the whole litter box thing. If she looks like she needs to go, put her in her box and so on.
Be patient and in time you can begin weaning her into the entire house. Good luck and this site is always here to answer questions the best we can.

You may want to sit on the floor with her and see if she will lick Gerber turkey baby food from your finger. It smells good, and kittens usually love it.

Holding her close to your chest and petting her may reassure her as well. She may like a stuffed bear to cuddle with, unless she sleeps with you.

Poor baby is frightened. She should begin feeling safer soon.
